*******Obama delays trip to Indonesia and Australia to be there for health care*******
Edited on Fri Mar-12-10 02:30 PM by karynnj

Obama means business. He wants to get this thing done.

BREAKING: President Obama is pushing back his trip to Asia, previously planned for March 18, by three days in order to focus on health care.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs tweeted Friday morning: "The President will delay leaving for Indonesia and Australia - will now leave Sunday - the First Lady and the girls will not be on the trip"

2. I just saw this - and the first thought was that Obama would not have done this
unless there was a very high chance that this will happen before he leaves. It is great news that he will be there to make the final last minute calls needed - as well as adding his strong, eloquent voice to counter the cacophony of lies that we will face as it comes closer to happening. (It is amazing to think how much was spent on ads in addition to their free echo chamber?

3. Yes, very high drama!
I just called my blue dog again(Mitch Stewart sent an email and a handy number) to register my complaint that he's voting "no"..said if he votes no then I will be voting no on him in November.

8. Absolutely!
Not a decision to be taken easily, so yes, I agree, it's highly likely that by the end of next week the House will pass the bill (and what a nail bitter that will be). OTOH, and I ppray I am wrong, it may also be a reaction to comments I read/heard about the House not being too happy that they are being pushed "so that the Obama girls can go on a Spring break vacation".

7. Wow. Impressive. No public option, democrats looking like fools, and he's

making a 3-day delay? This is newsworthy? Obama is a HUGE disappointment at all levels.

9. Of course it IS VERY newsworthy
because it's a good indication about what is going on behind the scenes in relation to the bill and the likelihood that a week from now the House would have passed it. You are entitled to your opinions of course, but they are irrelevant when judging the newsworthiness of information.

10. He may be a huge disappointment to YOU, but not to the majority of Dems. You act as if
a public option is the be all-end all of a HCR bill. Listen to Nancy Pelosi when she says there are many components of a public option in the bill that's about to pass and try to come up with another reason to be "disappointed." :eyes:
