TeaBaggers are REPUBLICANS. End of story.
I have watched with amazement on this site and elsewhere this malarkey about the TeaHaters being some "new movement". BULLSHIT! Look at their leader: Palin the REPUBLICAN Veep candidate in the last election. They are OVERWHELMINGLY registered REPUBLICANS and REPUBLICAN voters. They ARE the BASE of the REPUBLICAN PARTY. They love Rush and Glenn and Coulter and the rest of those wingnuts. They are glued to Fox news (when not watching hunting shows, wrestlemania, or monster trucks). They really don't care so much about "small government" since they loved Bush/Cheney who expanded government, ran up massive debts, and trampled on the Constitution. What they DO care about is the fact that they lost two elections, that THEIR REPUBLICAN PARTY is out of power, and that a black man is in the White House. They are just nasty, pissed off, cement-headed idiots who are both ignorant and stupid at the same time. And that's the end of that REPUBLICAN story.

40. I don't think they will
I think the Republicans will continue to embrace the so=called teapartiers. After the non=reaction to the events of the health care reform bill weekend, I think even violent attacks will not affect their stance. I believe that if people start to run under some sort of teaparty affiliation, the republicans will jump ship and join the extremists.

6. And Republicans have embraced their nut job views
People at work who I thought were sane are now spouting the crazy paranoid shit about Obama and "socialism" with passion like they believe this stuff. Propaganda and disinformation works really well specially when it is not challenged by our lazy media. So Republicans are placing all bets on the stupidity of the public. We'll know if it works or not in November. The bat crazy shit didn't work in 2008 and I am hopeful most independents are able to see through the insanity this year.

They are through and through Republicans. Remember that final Bush approval rate of 28%? These Tea Party members are primarily comprised of that 28%. It's a fact.

They are just sad because they're out of power. Their movement is gaining momentum because they are making a spectacle of themselves. Their numbers are far less and not deserving of the converge they are getting. But such is the nature of the RW M$M.

12. Absolutely ... been saying that for MONTHS.
The entire movement is a GOP creation. They lost the last election, in part, because their crazy base doesn't like McCain and stayed home.

So, they riled them up, and turned them loose.

Every "issue" the scream about is a far right wing position.

Extreme anti-abortion
Extreme anti-gay
Extreme pro-gun
Extreme Xenophobia
Extreme Christian, usually evangelical, Baptist or Protestant
Think the Iraq war was a great Idea
Only cares about debt and spending when the GOP is out of power
Thinks Obama is a Kenyan
Thinks Obama hates America
Thinks that Socialism, Communism and fascism are all the same thing
Mostly older
Almost all white
Almost all rural

And for some reason, the media pretends not to notice.

47. + Rumsfeld.
... Now we have news that the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is starting her own organization, Liberty Central, Inc. The organization describes itself as catering to the "citizen activists" of the "tea party" movement and dedicated to "furthering the core principles of the founding fathers."

This is the wife of the man who just decided that First Amendment rights apply to corporations as well as to individuals - a definite core principal of the founding fathers - and who makes no secret of the fact that he has very weird ideas about whether 8th Amendment rights (cruel and unusual punishment) apply to anyone already in prison.

In addition, the Washington Post writes:

Virginia Thomas's biography on says she "is a fan of Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham and other talk radio hosts," and that she is "is intrigued by Glenn Beck and listening carefully."
The LibertyCentral.org Web site also lists an endorsement from former defense secretary Donald M. Rumsfeld, who says that "Ginni can help channel the frustration felt by millions across America at the current course of our country."

Personally, I loved the direction Mr. Rumsfeld took our country. Does anyone still remember?

30. It's a rebranding effort
What irks me even more than the claim that teabaggers are not Republicans is the claim by the teabaggers that they somehow represent the will of the people. They lost the last presidential election by a margin equal to the population of New York City, but claim that they speak for the people.

It is my hope, though, that what the teabaggers have done is make it so that respectable, aspirational soccer moms, who care a lot about things such as civility and acting appropriately, will be aghast at these people, and will reckon that it's just not respectable to be a Republican anymore. There are a lot more people like that than old, angry white rural people.

34. Republicans? Not according to TODAY'S Yahoo/AP News:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100331/ap_on_el_pr/us_obama_tea_party

Quote: "The latest political phenomenon, barely a year old, has leaders on both sides of the political spectrum puzzled."

Quote: "Those in the coalition have allegiance to no political party, with independent voters and even moderate Democrats among their ranks."

But whatever you do -- DON'T boycott Yahoo. That would be political ACTION and the DLC and "Liberal" Talk Radio hosts like Randi Rhodes say DON'T boycott things.

38. Went to a teabagger meeting tonight in my home town
So I go to my hometown teabagger meeting. (Morbid curiosity got the best of me, and my buddy is a radio talk show host and wanted to get some of these loons to go on his show.) The main speaker asks "so how many folks here are from Douglas?" and about a third of the room raises their hands. Then the next speaker asks "so who again is in Douglas?" and the whole room raised their hand. Well we were "IN" Douglas.
We're not talking mensa members here folks.
I counted 166 people. Wonder what the paper will say tomorrow.
And BTW there were no minorities there. And I sure didn't see any of my fellow democrats there. Nor did I see any familiar faces from town meetings.
The ONLY candidates there were republican. How odd.

54. Naomi is full of it
she says this:
Liberals roll their eyes about going on "Oprah" to reach a mass audience by using language that anyone can understand even if you majored in semiotics at Yale. We look down on people we don’t agree with. It doesn’t serve us well.

What is she talking about? Oprah isn't liberal herself???? What great liberal has rolled their eyes at Oprah? Does she think all liberals go to Yale? Didn't Bush go there... and then pretend to be a cowboy (IOW lie) to talk to his base? Didn't Rove and other conservatives talk about how they just used the Religious Right and don't really believe in what they preach?

Is it "looking down on people" when you simply cannot talk to them? Did we look down on the disrupters of the Town Hall Meetings? Are we supposed to pretend they have a point when they call Obama a Socialist AND a Fascists at the same time? When they cry "Keep the government out of my Medicare!? When they talk about an Earth that is 6000 years old and Dinosaurs and man coexisted? Are we supposed to pretend they're making sense?

Is Rush not an elitist smoking illegal cigars and drinking expensive scotch? Sarah Palin lecturing us from a lectern is something we're supposed to take seriously?

Way to fall into those Repug talking points, Naomi.

57. The Tea Klux Klan are Republicans on steroids.
They're Republicans with the volume turned up to 100 in all the wrong directions.

They're Republicans who still look up at the sky even though the fireworks ended yesterday.

They're Republicans who think "FREEDUMZ INT FREE" yet bitch up a stench about having to pay for it.

They're Republicans who are all huffy that there's a bill come due as a result of Junior's whiskey-throttle tax cuttin' and warrin'.

The Tea Klux Klan preach "personal responsibility", but worship corporations and politicians that are above such nonsense.

The Tea Aryan Resistance want "gubmint outta ar helth cahr", yet see nothing wrong with Medicaid and Social Security.

The Teahadists don't seem to get that selfishness is one of the best arguments FOR Universal Health Care.

The TeaBirthers are the most misanthropic, racist, grizzled, cane-waving, stuck in the Reagan era, still fighting the Cold AND Civil Wars, pissed off that a black guy is in THEIR White House, uneducated Sons of Bushes this country has seen in decades.

Time has marched on, you pink-bellied morans, and you have not.
