White House: Obama Has Told Generals, Foreign Leaders Of His Afghan Decision

As he prepares for tomorrow evening's national address on a new strategy for the war in Afghanistan, President Barack Obama is informing those who need to know about what he's decided.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs told reporters this morning, the Associated Press says, that the president met last night with Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and National Security Adviser James Jones to tell them of his decisions, which reportedly include sending tens of thousands more U.S. soldiers to the Central Asian nation. The president later spoke by video conference with U.S. commander Gen. Stanley McChrystal and Karl Eikenberry, ambassador to Afghanistan.

In addition, Gibbs said, the president has contacted French President Nicolas Sarkozy and plans to soon speak with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

Lord, making that speech in front of those to be Professional Army Officer Corps is LOW (covertly conniving). Of course, those young men and women would follow you into Hell. But you are sending them to protect CONTRACTORS who outnumber military in Afghanistan.
