Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.) announced Monday that he has the backing of Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.), the third-ranking Republican in the House, in his primary bid for Senate against Rep. Jerry Moran.
"Todd Tiahrt understands that we must return to common sense conservative principles," Pence said in a press release. "Todd will never waiver when it comes to taking a fight for our conservative principles."
Tiarht's announcement comes just hours after Moran announced he was on the air with a statewide television buy.
Although the Aug. 3 primary is competitive, CQ Politics considers this general election contest to be a Safe Republican seat.
