I'm not quite ready to anoint him as the second coming as some around here. But I will say, he seems to be devoid of the political tendancy to avoid difficult problems for fear of becoming associated with them. He's willing to "own" problems that probably don't really have solutions. Rather rare in the political world these days. Sadly, it may be his undoing some day. Sooner or later you own one you can't get past. And with term limits, you only get about 6 politically "effective" years anyway so the longer he makes it, the less of a loss it becomes.

But I've never seen a politician giving speeches in the pouring rain more than Obama.

Of course, to give speeches in the rain, a politician would have to have supporters willing to stand out in the rain and listen.

serves the people, as opposed to Bush, whose remote fly-over and subsequent puppet show with Brownie suggested a total disconnect.
