50% approval (+3), 45% disapproval (-2): http://www.gallup.com/Home.aspx :D

3. "Obama's Katrina"
I haven't seen Obama celebrating stupid shit while this is going on. I actually see his feet on the ground in dealing with it.

If he is smart (and he's is) he will continue to do so.

7. Deep down they know...they had a stupid fuck-up in the WH.
It won't stop them from using every dirty trick they have to make inaccurate comparisons.

10. Isn't that the danger for Republicans?
That if they persist in tagging this as "Obama's Katrina" and the Obama Administration responds well to the crisis, aren't they just inviting some rather embarrassing comparisons?

21. Those are good numbers. But of course as I'm sure you know, the numbers that really matter...
will be his fall of 2012 numbers. Polls go up and down and I wouldn't get too excited about it right now whether he is going up or down at this point.

22. The reason his approval rating matters now is because the more popular he is,
the more Congress will be willing to pass whatever he WANTS them to pass/take up.

23. You do have a point there. But his popularity won't help much if he continues to backtrack...
on such issues as DADT and immigration reform.

Edited on Tue May-04-10 01:29 PM by jenmito
I think he's working to get those things done without putting any more Dems. in danger of not getting re-elected (even though repealing DADT is very popular and would only HELP Dems. in Congress if they'd pass it sooner rather than later).

25. Furthermore, data that shows when a President's approval ratings go below 50 percent, they...
... "have seen their parties lose an average of 41 House seats in midterm elections."

27. Funny thing about 'Obama's Katrina'
is that it contains the admission that Bush et al totally fucked up the response to the disaster in New Orleans.
