CNN is Reporting that ~ ~
Specter losing is a referendum on Obama and a huge embarrassment for the White House.

1. Sestak will be a better ally for Obama than Specter
But maybe next time Obama will show a little better judgement in primaries.

14. We got quite a few very important votes from Specter for just saying the White House will
support you in the Democratic Primary. He was a more consistent D vote than half of the Democratic Senate caucus. I think it was worth the trade off and not that big a deal.

The media sounds like friggin lunatics tonight.

5. Well...which is worse. Getting Rand Paul as your candidate in Kentucky or getting Sestak
Edited on Tue May-18-10 10:15 PM by Jennicut
as your candidate in PA? I will go with Sestak being the better outcome. The WH gave support to all the incumbents and I doubt Specter would have changed his mind if they did not offer support. I guess they didn't have to but that is pretty shitty to not keep your end of a deal.

With Sestak, he helps Obama in certain votes and pushes the Senate more to the left. And that is bad, how?

And McTurtle has to work with Paul now...hilarity will ensue.

6. Well...

I know that common DU wisdom dictates that Obama had presumably promised to support Specter if he switched parties...and that therefore supporting Specter but not really going all out was a clever strategy.
But whatever the strategy, he should never have supported "Magic Bullet" Specter, the same Specter who humiliated Anita Hill to put Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court...

9. Obama wanted Specter's votes, who will be there till next January.
Politics is the art of the possible, not the wait for two years,
and then get a Dem vote in the Senate.

7. Media talking points are out of sync with reality tonight.
It's a good night for Democrats. The Republican Party should be very worried.

11. Not a word about Mitchie or about Murtha's seat. Oh - and they just called Blanche Lincoln a
