I couldn't agree more. I disagreed with his philosophy while he was a Republican, and couldn't help but keep him at arms length when he changed to D after being an R after all those years. It's really hard for a Leopard to change it's spots. However, first and foremost, part of me, feels for him as a person. He has spent most of his life, serving the people in some capacity or another, whether you agreed with him or not.
So thank you Senator Spector.

your work kept many of us employed during the Bush administration and for that alone you will always have my gratitude. Even as a republican you were our advocate more so than any democrat except one who you worked with on a bipartisan basis to keep at least some funding going to the NIH - meaning academic teachers/researchers as well
