Edited on Wed May-19-10 05:15 PM by LeftyAndProud60
I was half asleep and can't remember the site they said to go to. It was on MSNBC

it's around the 58min mark. He basically said something about not liking the fed gov being able to tell a private buisness what to do. I'm paraphrasing.

9. Heard a Rand Paul interview on NPR about a half hour ago. ( 5:20 or so?)
Edited on Wed May-19-10 04:55 PM by Demoiselle
I was drifting in and out but paid enough attention to hear him say that he advocated "practical, common sense" solutions like...for example, requiring employers with two story office buildings to give wheel chair bound persons offices on the first floor.... But they shouldn't be required to install elevators.
I was boggled by the inane, utter stupidity of this...and now that I see your post, I realize that he was talking about the ADA.
The other thing that boggled me was the that the NPR interviewer allowed this incredible statement to slide right by with out a challenge or a question.
Teh stupid appears to be winning.

10. Heard him on NPR. He said he could not say whether he would have voted for the Civil Rights Act.
Wouldn't give a straight answer.

He is a racist.

11. Not surprising. The Paul family has long been associated with white supremacists
His father ran a little newspaper that often had white supremacist rants.

14. He may be racist, he may not be
Libertarians opposed the CRA, many of whom were not racist at all, just states rights to the point of insanity. I wouldn't call Barry Goldwater a racist and he opposed it. He was also very much again segregation. He just wrongly thought states have the ultimate say.

15. I think that's pretty much is point--pretty much about private property
Most libertarians believe that public places shouldn't be allowed to engage in racism (because those are taxpayer-funded places) but that private property owners should be allowed to so long as they're committing racism in their private property.

That's what I've been told.

13. Hmm, he says that publicly-funded institutions should be prohibited from engaging in racism
But that private businesses should be allowed to do it within their own property if the property is privately-owned.
