Today's Press Briefing: The Twitter Play by Play
funnies and randomness from the press corps (and others) during today's briefing

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
@mikememoli - Low turnout from press for this event. Dozens of empty seats http://tweetphoto.com/24196395
@DanaBashCNN - As Obama talks, snr dem aide says "anger more &more is focusing on the administration" & if presser doesn't ease concern, will b more vocal
@marcambinder - Who is the poor "under under under secretary of NOAA"?
@hambypCNN - classic Obama phrase: "this notion that somehow ... ... is simply not true
@billburton44 - 4/22 release: asked the responding dept's to devote every resource needed to respond to this incident and investigate its cause
(and, at this point, the press started to get bored and antsy)
@RussertXM_NBC - Obama is still on the 1st question... anybody got a clock? I'd say he's broken 5 minutes now on this answer.
@CliotheLeo - @RussertXM_NBC I was transcribing his answer, had to stop when my fingers got tired. (And I used to do this for a living.)
@daveweigel - Side note: Wondering how anyone can be "promised" an admin job given that such a nominee would obviously be filibustered.
@AWMooneyCNN - Predicting pundits will debate whether calm Obama showed enough anger at presser
@TheHyperFix - Man, if you had "Steven Chu" in the presser bingo, you are going to be winning. That's twice now.
@whpresscorps - Still still answering Jennifer Loven's question...
@TheHyperFix - Ok, Prez O keeps saying "boom". And I think of this. http://ht.ly/1QKl0
@RussertXM_NBC - Heeeeeeeeeeeeere's @jaketapper
@TheHyperFix - oh yeah @jaketapper gets second question! Twitter win.
@bazmaniandevil - Been covering WH press conferences since '93 & have never seen this formation before: POTUS podium on south side of East Room. #presser
@TheHyperFix - Again with the Obama/leaking pipe split screen on MSNBC. WH aides=grimacing
@RussertXM_NBC - Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeere's Chuckles @chucktodd #fearthegoat
@whpresscorps - Third Question, Chuck Todd and his goatee.
@TheHyperFix - What will 1st non oil spill question be? @chucktodd goes with oil spill -- three straight.
@daveweigel - So what does "yes we can" apply to, exactly?
@daveweigel - Helen Thomas! Drink!
@TheHyperFix - Can someone please ask a Joe Sestak question?
@mikemadden Helen Thomas, tell us how you REALLY feel.
@WestWingReport - Helen was eating a really tasty brownie a few minutes ago and it looked pretty good.
@TheHyperFix - S-E-S-T-A-K!!!!
@dceiver: Wait? We're in Afghanistan? WHY HAVEN'T WE TOP KILLED THAT PLACE?
@brianbeutler - DEEP THOUGHT: In a lot of ways, Obama's answers are like #topkill
@mikememoli - BTW, there's yet another fly swarming around East Room
@chrislhayes - Spanish reporter just referred to the situation in "AreeTHONa" #adorableaccents
@brianbeutler - FACT: People in the press gallery aren't funny.
@MattOrtega - Major Garrett reading from an RNC press release with "ASK" post-it note from Rupert, apparently.
@daveweigel - Why won't Obama scream and yell and take over the Gulf with his magic powers? Worse president EVER.
@owillis: i just have this image now of Malia randomly popping up in Obama's day asking "fixed it yet dad? now? now?"
@owillis I'm surprised she doesn't ask "Have you answered Darrell Issa's question about Joe Sestak, daddy?"
@daveweigel - Is anyone else suddenly worried about our government's ability to build a fleet of arks to ride out the 2012 apocalypse?
@chucktodd - Someone pointed out that I didn't say "thank you Mr. President" before my question. I thot I did, but if I didn't, then that was a mistake.
@donnabrazile - Obama hit it! Thank you Mr President! "I grew up in Hawaii... I know the water." God loves the power of those who believe in their truth.
@bazmaniandevil - We're done at the WH #presser. Some show. This has to blow away the afternoon soap operas.
@billscher: Remember when Bush had to address all those issues at his Katrina East Room press conference? Oh right, that never happened.
5. Dave Weigel .. who's been on MSNBC a lot lately...
.... and Brian Beutler ... a TPM reporter who SHOULD be on MSNBC a lot ... are, without question, the funniest men in all of Washington DC.
You never get to see how funny Dave is on TV but he and Beutler have the most awesome, dry humor. (Plus, Beutler http://www.thewashingtonnote.com/archives/2008/07/googling_the_sh/">got all shot up one time, so he's officially a rock star.)
Oh ... and the DNC's Press Sec. Hari Sevugan is a riot as well.
8. Twitter is awesome for events like this. My favorite EVER was the morning it was
announced that Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. That was an absolute riot. I follow reporters, bloggers, Dem activists and just regular people with similar interests. The jokes were just Hilarious and the Republicans were livid which made it so much more Awesome because why would any patriotic American be upset by the President of the United States winning the most esteemed prize in the world? :D
