Added benefit to DADT.....homophobes leave the military in droves!!! |
|
I hear a lot of complaining about how military men and women will quit the armed forces if DADT is implemented!
And my response to that is 'good riddance'!
Someone who is that homophobic is also probably beating Iraqi citizens for no reason, kicking in doors of Iraqi households for no reason and just basically being assholes because they are ego filled pieces of shit.
If someone is so anti-gay that they would rather quit than continue to serve their country then I think their version of 'serving the country' mainly consisted of being a shithead with a gun who could fulfill their ego trip!
So the best thing about DADT is maybe a hidden screening mechanism to week out the bigots!

9. Which groves did you have in mind? Bohemian Grove? |
|
That reminds me of Rapmaster Ronnie, a great satire of Reagan. He'd use the word 'grove' instead of 'groove'. "Here we go....I'm in the grove. I'm in a grove." It was so funny. Had to be there. A grove.

19. People who leave the military over the DADT repeal are homophobes. |
|
People who oppose repealing DADT and legalizing same-sex marriage are, at minimum, buying into homophobia.

21. People who oppose legalizing gay marriage are homophobes. |
|
Edited on Fri May-28-10 10:41 AM by Lyric
There is no valid excuse for it--not even "religion", because nobody's church is being (or will be) forced to perform gay marriages.
Opposition to legal gay equality of A-N-Y kind is homophobia. Period. It's time to stop making excuses for people.

that they would refuse to serve with someone because of who and what they are.. then those are the same people who you would find in war situations attacking non combatants, committing war crimes etc. They have no moral compass of compassion
Just my opinion
EDIT TO ADD.. K&R

15. I agree with your "good riddance" statement about the ones that will quit |
|
But there won't be very many of them. Anti-gay sentiments are generally not tolerated in the military because everyone knows that a lot of their fellow service members are gay.

12. I really do not think so |
|
Most of the men and women in uniform are not idiots. My husband serves with at least two openly gay men on a submarine. It is no big secret and from what my husband says, most of the straight men could care less. They are more worried about the men who cannot do the job correctly putting their lives at risk. I think there is a certain stereotype about the military that needs to be re-evaluated.

"They are more worried about the men who cannot do the job correctly"
This phrase would seem to indicate that they are concerned with whether ANYONE aboard can do their job correctly - i.e. not worried about whether anyone is gay.

20. Yeah, there's no real indication that any significant number will leave. |
|
It is a policy that was always unjust, but increasingly has become plainly archaic: out of the range of both public and military sentiment.

27. If you don't love your country enough to serve next to a gay man or woman |
|
then they should be free to leave the military.
And I think you're right that someone with prejudiced attitudes about one sexual identity are likely to have prejudices about people in whatever brown skinned country we invade next. You have to feel superior to people in a country if you're going to invade them. I'm not sure the military could conduct a war of aggression if we removed bigotry. It's probably impossible.

28. You're fighting for the life of the person next to you, not their race, religion, or shagging habits |

Those who cannot fight for the life of the soldier/sailor/airman/marine next to them simply aren't qualified to be in the fight.
