Little Rock: Clinton tells Arkansas voters this is 'about using you and manipulating your votes...'
Apparently trying to pit Arkansas voters against unions to get them to vote for Blanche Lincoln in Tuesday's primary.
Clinton: Don't let anger sink Lincoln re-election

By ANDREW DeMILLO

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Former President Bill Clinton on Friday urged voters in his home state to send Sen. Blanche Lincoln back to Washington for another term, warning them to not let their anger guide their choice in next month's Democratic runoff.

"Her opponent is not her opponent," Clinton said. "Her opponents are the people trying to make her this poster child."

Labor unions such as the AFL-CIO and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees have embraced Halter's bid, saying they've grown frustrated with Lincoln on issues such as health care and key union organizing legislation.

Unions backing Halter spent more than $5 million on the race before the May 18 primary, and labor leaders privately say they're ready to spend another $5 million during the runoff campaign. Clinton seized on statements union officials have made that they want to show their independence from the Democratic Party with the effort.

"In other words, this is about using you and manipulating your votes to terrify members of Congress from other states," Clinton said. "If you want to be used that way, have at it."

3. Except she comes from a wealthy farm family and her husband's a doctor. They live in DC area.
I think she'll be okay, in any case.

yes, you nailed it. She is gonna be the poster child of a failure to communicate with the rest of the democratic party. She's going down, Bill. <no pun intended, Bill>

I agree with it, however. The folks who pay attention year round to politics are the ones who nearly do all the voting in primaries. So, suffice it to say, the Democratic Party is truly unhappy with the centrist actions taken, and wish the Democratic Party actually pushed what it wanted through Congress as Dumya's Congress did. Go Halter!

the email from Halter's camp says ---
"Bill Clinton and Blanche Lincoln took us in the wrong direction when they supported NAFTA," the e-mail reads. "They sent thousands of Arkansas jobs to Mexico and Canada, and yet they're still bragging about their support of the job-killing deal."

it was his plan all along, just another super-dimensional chess move."

12. Um, Bill?
What is a campaign but a candidate trying to manipulate voters' votes?

I understand why he's doing this, I do. He's a party man, through and through--support the party, help the party, do the things you judge in the party's best interests. And that's not a terrible thing. Every successful political party needs cutthroat loyalists, because without them there IS no party. With Lincoln being a fellow Arkansas Democrat (although I think of her as a Democrat in the loosest sense of the label), I suspect he feels an obligation to help--not to mention that she's an incumbent in trouble.

But he's gotta understand that this isn't why people are revolting against Lincoln. They feel genuinely betrayed--and I don't blame them.

17. No surprise that the guy who brought triangulation and DLC to us would be for Lincoln
Why would anyone expect differently?

The unions have it right and Clinton has it wrong. Go ahead and let your anger be your guide. Halter is a better candidate for the average Arkansan and American.
