Today's Gallup will bum out punditocracy ... |
|
Edited on Wed Jun-02-10 12:07 PM by fugop
http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Job-Approval.aspxIt's only on the approval page so far, not the home page. Guess Gallup isn't too thrilled either. (On edit: Made it to the home page now. Up 3 to 50% today.)

They'll just ignore it.
Then it'll drop a few points again and they'll freak out and say that means Obama is dying.
Then it'll come back up and they'll ignore it.
Then it'll go back down and they'll freak...
Wash, rinse, repeat.

3. why do you think they'll care |

they won't. their job is to concern troll us. no matter what the situation, that is their job.
reality does not impact this goal at all.

5. they'll just try harder |
|
this is just motivation for them. i can see their bosses put these graphs up on the wall in motivational poster style, urging them to do more.

4. It should. But it won't. |

The pundits don't talk about the polls when they're good. They only talk about 'em when they're bad.

13. This one's kinda funny |
|
But then there's this one, which says Dems have an approval rating that's 7 points higher than that of the GOP. So go figure: http://www.gallup.com/poll/138095/Parties-Favorable-Ratings-Near-Record-Lows.aspx

16. Tis why I'm so leary about all polls |
|
First off, the election is months away - anything can happen. And the reality is that polls are just a snapshot of a moment. Sometimes I'd say I support the President strongly, sometimes not - that doesn't mean I would ever vote puke for President. So I let the chuck todd's of the world obsess over the numbers - next week they'll be different and it'll be another story.

11. Perhaps the American people are tuning out the punditocracy? I know I am. |
|
If it weren't for DU, I wouldn't know or care what the pundits are saying. I don't watch anymore, nor do I care to. There's been an all out assault on this administration from Day 1, and it didn't take long for the few progressive voices we have out there, to join the attacks.
I finally had to give up Randi Rhodes last week, and I now have so much free time. Whew!

14. I haven't really watched the MSM since the Clinton impeachment |
|
It's been downhill from there.
I'll tune in for a major event, and I watched quite a bit of the 2008 Dem primary coverage, but when the actual coverage stops and the hot air valve switches on, I switch off.

15. I can't blame you. I've replaced my political commentary shows with |
|
home buying/selling/improvement shows. I am officially addicted to HGTV and the Style Network. Like you, if there's something major going on, I'll tune in, but not for long. I still record Countdown each night, but it only takes me about ten minutes to watch a full episode.
