Imagine, if you will, (indulge me for a moment), imagine if the oil catastrophe had |
|
happened while Bush was still President.
What would have happened by now? Would the Coast Guard have responded on the first night? Well, maybe, but then....
Would Bush be on vacation? Would he be eating birthday cake with John Boehner? Would he be saying we are "addicted to oil"?
Would he be sending his Attorney General down to investigate possible criminal actions? Would he have appointed a commission to look into this?
Or would he be still chopping brush and practicing his Golf putts on some phantom ranch in Texas?
Give us your ideas.

3. Halliburton would have taken over cleanup on BP's dime, which |
|
would be refunded to BP through tax cuts and subsidies?

9. No, Halliburton would have taken over cleanup on the public's dime, which |
|
would somehow still manage to be refunded to BP through tax cuts and subsidies.

7. My guess is that things would be proceeding more or less as they are |
|
BP would still be doing what they're doing, Admiral Allen would still be giving pressers, MMS would still be under scrutiny for their malfeasance and the Whitehouse would still be under fire for their pro-drilling policies.

10. He'd be passing more tax breaks for the poor, beleagured oil |
|
companies to help them through this "difficult" period, while Cheney would be convening his cronies to plan major speculative ventures--to expropriate all the poor folks' land for the purpose of emergency oil exploration (aka, get rid of the poor and minority likely Democratic voters, part deux)
