GOP tests 2012 theme vs. Obama
Wow, they all got the meme and are blathering in concert, the one thing the rethugs do well.

GOP tests 2012 theme vs. Obama
By Alexander Bolton - 06/10/10 08:28 PM ET

Republican presidential contenders appear to have found a 2012 campaign theme: They’re spreading the word that President Barack Obama lacks enough real-world experience for the job, and that his response to the Gulf oil spill proves it.

No Republican has formally started to campaign, but several are speaking up now to say Obama is out of his league.

“I frankly think that he’s shown that in a crisis setting where there’s a deepwater oil spill, he’s out of his depth,” said Mitt Romney, the former Republican governor of Massachusetts, who ran for president in 2008.

“He just does not have the experience to actually lead. He’s a great speaker but not a great leader.”

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the GOPs vice presidential nominee in 2008, said Obama’s lack of experience has become evident during the crisis.

“I think what the president is realizing is that his lack of executive experience is coming into play right now,” she said. “I know that he mocked and chided others who did have experience in the campaign and he acted like being a community organizer was all that it was going to take.”

Romney and Palin made their comments during appearances on Fox News.

1. Okay
What president other than Dick Cheney would have any experience with deep water oil disasters? Just because Obama doesn't run around touting how 'he' did this and 'he' did that does not mean he is not doing anything. Besides the fact that most of these Republican idiots don't ever seem to get around to saying what they would have done. They are only interested in trying to get this labeled by the media as 'Obama's Katrina'. In connection with that 'Katrina' meme if Bush had done something when he should have it would have been fairly obvious that something was being done i.e. people or being housed and fed, rescue vehicles and teams would be working, cleanup would be happening, etc. I don't think handling a deep water oil disaster (they can't even agree on how big it actually is) is going to have those overt examples other than what they are doing which is attempt to keep the oil off the beaches and out of the wet lands.

2. I have a better meme for them:
"Even Democrats wants him out". That's catchy, and much closer to the truth than that garbage.

3. They are truly evil.
9/11 brought everyone together. Democrats and republicans stood shoulder to shoulder and for a while there was no criticism of Bush. But the low life scum f*cks who are the right, will use any and all situations to their advantage.

4. Just how did we get into the predicament we are in in the Gulf...
GOP giving the oil corp's free rein, putting people into positions where virtually nothing was checked, safety was overridden to increase profits and regulations became virtually non-existent.

D's have their problems in this as well...but the GOP is literally complicit in the entire disaster. PO can "lead", no matter what he does, the GOP is there screaming about his inability to do anything, while they toss roadblocks at every opportunity. When will they call to hold BP responsible for the disaster...Boehner is now saying taxpayers should pay for part of the disaster he was instrumental in creating. Plenty of tar out there, feathers from dead birds are plentiful...perhaps we should add these to Boehner's wardrobe...

7. Yeah, Rethugs make govt. a mess, expect Obama to clean it up quickly,
hope they can take over again, and then ruin it even more.
Oh Rethugs, if only it was not so easy to lay out exactly what you will do.
And executive experience means crap. Where is Palin's expertise? In quitting?

9. Sick isn't it?
I don't see Republicans taking any responsibility for what happened. I don't see them proposing any solutions or saying how they'd solve the problem. I don't see any of them rolling up their sleeves and grabbing a mop.

I honestly don't know how Palin can look in the mirror and talk about experience, however.

13. In 2012, Obama will have 4 years as president under his belt
And Caribou Barbie will have 2 years as governor of Alaska. Who wins the experience contest in that matchup?

14. If this is their intended theme, it doesn't work. By 2012, he will have had close to 4 years
executive experience as President. That beats ANY candidate they could put up. Only GHWB would have had similar executive experience as President. Look at W, though obviously I am NOT saying Obama is anything like Bush.

Remember that with W, running in 2000 was nothing like running in 2004. He was a sitting President in a time of war. His NG service was not an issue - because it was needed to define him. He was defined by being President. His having no accomplishments before he was about 40 and a history of alcohol abuse - didn't count. He ran as President. In his case, the damage he had done did not yet show.

The November election is 5 months away. In spite of CONSTANT Republican spin, things are turning in our favor. We still will lose seats, but that is more because in the House 2006 and 2008, we picked up many that were long shots. In the Senate, we will lose some because we have so many seats where people were appointed and now have to run or are open. Had Biden stayed in DE (which would have been a loss not to have him as VP), same with Obama in IL. Had Bayh or Dorgan stayed, those seats would be safe or (Dorgan) competitive. Those are most of our seats that we can lose. As you can see, it is not because of some political tide.

2012 is far far away

and he's President for four fucking years.
