1. That we won't have to pay for this disaster, that gasoline prices won't...
go up anymore because of it, and that BP will pay for EVERYTHING (including the clean-up).

6. Yup, and we will all have a pony if we just ask for one! I'm sorry, I don't mean to
knock your ideas, they are very admirable, and the RIGHT THING TO DO!

But we all know that this would never turn out that great. I wish it would, but I think a nation so addicted to oil, and so reckless with our environment, over the past few hundred years, we can't expect such a result, just because Superman Obama is President when this happens. If the taxpayers can be held liable for AIG's incredible losses, I'm sure that, in the end, a few tens of billions will be put on OUR tab, not BP's

I so hope I'm wrong and you are right.

2. That BP won't be drilling in this country again - and no more offshore leases...
...will be granted during his term(s). We're moving on to green energy.

3. "Americans, it's time to think about a future that is not oil-based."
"Starting today, we need to wean ourselves off of fossil fuels, and replace them with solar, wind, water, and other clean forms of renewable, non-toxic, SAFE energy."

"All of our ills today are caused by oil. Our wars, our pollution, our environmental demise -- it's all about oil."

"If we think about the future, we must think about sustainability and the impact our actions have on our planet. It's the only planet we've got."

(let the Bu$h/Cheney nightmares begin).

5. He should say . . . James Carville and his wife are assholes.

:P

Or maybe something a little more substantial and uplifting, I guess. Though I prefer the former.

7. I can go along with THAT, too. But a few hundred thousand people
and the wildlife and sea life of the Atlantic are at stake here, and, in the final analysis, James and Mary are irrelevant.

8. True. Maybe we should take up the slack for him on the Matalan/Carville front.

10. That he is nationalizing BP, seizing their assets
and distributing the funds to the victims of this man-made catastrophe.

12. He should come clean
and tell us everything. No more damage control. Let us know all the possible scenarios. Give us all the facts.
