My 12 year old grandson today said that oil was really for old people
he said oil was like old TVs and gas guzzlers. He liked the idea of hover cars that worked on air.

1. Let's hope by the time he's driving,
he won't have to fill up a tank with gasoline.

when he needs to gas up the car to pick up his girl. too bad we can't all revert to being 12 again. :(

15. not the infrastructure and subsidization
necessary to make them truly widespread, sadly. And I don't see that happening in 4 years.

21. Most things born of necessity are things that weren't envisioned
a short time before.

But we'll have to kick ass to make it happen.

Oil, coal and nuclear really do belong to another Era, an Era of people like Cheney.

9. Sad, but true....
Check this out: http://www.teslamotors.com/

My grandfather (97 now) is still confused by telephones, let alone email, sms, videochat, etc.

Their "refrigerators" were a chunk of ice sitting on a wooden box. They're now living in a world where a refrigerator can automatically re-order groceries, and the kids have devices that replace phones, maps, board games, mail, phone calls, etc. in a palm size device.

Kind of makes me wonder what life will be like in my 90's. Maybe we'll have air-hover-cars that run off of windmills, tidal waves, and solar, and we'll be looking back at "the old days" when people used cars that ran on oil, and computers that cost hundreds(!) of dollars.

that can change our energy future and I'd bet the average age is about 70 . . . maybe higher.

as has been the case. We are importing more oil today than we were 30-years ago.

24. He's almost right. Oil is actually a scam from another age. The intent wasn't to
run the inventions off oil but biofuels before there was such a term.
