If Dems were smart they would produce ads of Barton & other Republicans apologizing to BP
Chairman Hayward and calling the escrow fund a "shakedown." This should be the theme of the congressional campaign--do you want to elect more republicans to look after the interests of companies like BP?

BTW:
CNN and MSNBC both replayed Barton's apology to BP at the top of the hour. Fox completely ignored it. Go figure. CNN also played Markey's response.

4. They won't do it.....
...that would be not playing nice and it might hurt republicans feelings and then people on cable news shows would say bad things about them that they would internalize. Why deal with any of that messiness?

8. Couple that with the deregulation issue
Apologizing for making BP take responsibility
Allowing the cozy relationship between MMS & oil companies
Allowing the oil companies to dictate safety

There's so much here if they'll use it. That's a very very big IF.

9. Yes!
But this will only work if the Democrats stand very strong against the Oil Companies.

10. BAH! HUMBUG!
Given their behavior over the last 6 months or so, how DARE you even consider this: "If the Dems were smart?" Having seen so few signs of intelligent life, even on the D side of the aisle, whatever possessed you to think that they would start now?
