WH talking to Bill C about doing some campaigning

Democratic officials told CNN the White House specifically wants to use Clinton in key swing states where Obama is not particularly popular, such as Arkansas and Kentucky. In his home state of Arkansas, Clinton already helped Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln survive an intense primary challenge earlier this year and will now be used to help save the incumbent in an even tougher general election match-up with Republican John Boozman.

Clinton also will be used in Kentucky, where the White House has high hopes of picking up a seat with Democratic nominee Jack Conway facing Republican Rand Paul, who has been engulfed in a series of controversies.

"I think he and President Obama will be a good one-two punch," added a second senior Democratic official.

"Let's not forget that Bill Clinton was the last Democratic president who had to clean things up after years of Republican rule," said one senior Democratic official. "Clinton made tough choices that created surpluses. He can go out there and say, 'Look, I've lived this.' He's got a lot to offer because it's like an eyewitness account to what the country will look like if Republicans get in charge -- the obstruction, the investigations."

1. Not to mention - Clinton can say that he actually left office with a budget surplus
The media has argued that Obama can not credibly blame Bush for the deep recession - even though it started in 2007 and the financial markets nearly destroyed the economy in 2008. Clinton can say that - and is likely the best person to argue for the measures Obama has taken.

No one here will likely mistake me for a Clinton fan, but here he is well placed. That he gets to point to something that makes him look good (as it should), he might on this be what he rarely has done well, which is to be a strong, helpful surrogate. (Even for HRC he had trouble with that.)

2. He needs to get his ass to Georgia soon.
Bill has already put his support behind General Thurbert Baker, and Barnes is now supporting the Arizona law.

3. I don't doubt he could be of some help
in Georgia, and would be surprised if he doesn't make a stop here.

4. Hope he brings his friend George W with him
They can call for more bipartisanship, what with all the gains it made for Obama.

5. Does Obama want the help of a racist?
I followed the primaries carefully and I thought it was well-established that the Clintons are racists. I read as much right here on DU -- not to mention all over the MSM. In fact, had it not been for her overt racism, it's generally conceded that Hillary would have easily won the nomination.

What's next -- Tipper asking for Bill's help to get Al elected to something?

9. Why do you want to bring up the primary wars? Obama won and Hillary is a great Sec of State
and Bill is wanting to help and Obama wants his help. Leave it at that.

10. Oh yeah, the Clintons are such racists............
How dare they run against Obama, such a known commodity at the time and with such a wealth of experience.

:eyes:

Funny, how one Clinton is SOS and another Clinton is asked to campaign for other Democrats, give advise on the economy, rescue women from N. Korea, spearhead Haitian relief, etc. Aside from the millions of people that have received help from the Clinton Foundation. But, yes siree, the Clintons are racists.

Unless you were being sarcastic, your comment is way off.

11. I was just in my hometown of Atlanta last week visiting relatives, and...
though Roy Barnes WILL win the Democratic primary, he could use Bill's help--particularly in black communities in the Atlanta Metro--for the general.
