What decisions by Democrats will cause you to give up on them for good? |
|
For me, it's making a significant change to Social Security (i.e. raising the retirement age, privatizing, etc..).
The other is keeping the Bush tax cuts for the rich.
These are just two short-term decisions that are deal-breakers for me.

My bad, I was mistaken, Wrapped up in this apparent rush of people trying to divert us.
I apologize for being reactionary.

Unfortunately, the alternatives are too horrible to even contemplate.
That may change someday, but for now, it'd be impossible.

9. At this point, it does not seem to matter. They have piled up so many wrong actions (and inactions) |
|
that the camel's back was broken long ago. So, for me, they have already proven (again and again) that they will not really gain my support. Whether that translates into not voting for any of them come November will probably, as always, come down to how things are on that day. They certainly have not "earned" my support yet. I do not expect them to. If I was to pick one decision that would cement my disgust into leaving them "for good," it would be an attack on Iran at the behest of Israel. Or allowing Israel to attack Iran themselves. But seriously - how much worse could they do?

10. by "give up on dems" do you mean give up on good democrats, too? |
|
do you mean voting Green in a presidential election and helping elect republican who would be much worse than most democrats? I don't know. Yes, I would be unhappy about the change in social security (I already have to work until 67 under the newest rule.

I may vote for them less and less, but if a good one comes along I'll be there. "For good" is too much of an absolute, and I never use those. ;)

19. If we EVER get a Democratic administration that is EXACTLY like |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-22-10 01:56 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
George W. Bush and Dick Cheney's (mis-)administration, then I'd probably actually *refudiate* my Democratic voter status and go Indy (with a definite progressive/liberal bend). If a viable 3rd party ever emerges (one that doesn't just bleed votes from the Democrats and help elect Republicans), I may not be such a straight-up Democratic voter depending on the tilt/direction of the party. It is unfortunate that the system does not allow several competing options like other western countries but.......maybe one day.......... As of right now, however, the Democratic Party, with all of its flaws, is undeniably the only sane alternative to the Republican Party. I wish it were more progressive and less "incrementalist" sometimes but right now I'm MUCH happier with having Obama as President than I ever was when Bush was in the WH. Although it may take some more time but I believe that as younger voters replace older voters and younger candidates replace older candidates, there will be more of a progressive shift to the Democratic Party and politics in general.

26. Nothing...I will just keep kicking them in the ass to try to get them straightened out. |
|
I just emailed the WH this morning - again- blasting them for their huge military budget and letting them know I didn't vote for a republican president.
I do this regularly, and eventually someone will read one of my little messages...more chance of that then if I keep whining on sites like this one.
This place is just preaching to the choir and is pretty meaningless chatter and venting, not bad but not effective, either...
