Obama shines a bright line on Boehner's 'ideas' on jobs
OBAMA SHINES A BRIGHT LINE ON BOEHNER'S 'IDEAS' ON JOBS....

It was largely overlooked during a busy media week, but House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), who's been reluctant to talk about his party's policy agenda in detail, was willing to outline three measures he'd pursue as Speaker to create American jobs. The list made it painfully clear -- to anyone who takes substance even a little seriously -- that Boehner has no idea what he's talking about.

In fact, the remarks were so patently ridiculous, President Obama devoted much of his weekly address to shining a bright light on Boehner's understanding of job creation.

After talking in some detail about his own approach to economic growth, Obama warned against going back "to the same ideas that created this mess in the first place," adding, "Unfortunately, those are the ideas we keep hearing from our friends in the other party."

"This week, the Republican leader in the House of Representatives offered his plan to create jobs," the president exlpained. "It's a plan that's surprisingly short, and sadly familiar. First, he would repeal health insurance reform, which would take away tax credits from millions of small business owners, and take us back to the days when insurance companies had free rein to drop coverage and jack up premiums. Second, he would say no to new investments in clean energy, after his party already voted against the clean energy tax credits and loans that are creating thousands of new jobs and hundreds of new businesses. And third, even though his party voted against tax cuts for middle-class families, he would permanently keep in place the tax cuts for the very wealthiest Americans - the same tax cuts that have added hundreds of billions to our debt.

"These are not new ideas. They are the same policies that led us into this recession. They will not create jobs; they will kill them. They will not reduce our deficit; they will add $1 trillion to our deficit. They will take us backward at a time when we need to keep America moving forward."

If you listen really carefully at the 3:44 mark, you'll notice that the president actually chuckles, just a little, when describing just how ridiculous Boehner's approach to job creation really is.

That's what it has come to in 2010 -- the Republican agenda is so truly awful, it's hard to describe it without finding it literally comical.

1. Good for Obama. Now I want to see that get as much press as the Sherrod thing.

I think if the media should get on the ball and start covering the real differences between the party.

2. Bring the troops home for a dramatic drop in the...
number of dead U.S. military sons and daughters. And as a side benefit, reduce the drain on our economy and indebtedness.

3. Good. Keep reminding. Better late than never.
I wanted a Truth & Reconciliation Commission at the beginning of President Obama's term, but at least let's get some acknowledgment going now that Republican policies caused the Bush crash and the military occupations that bankrupted our country.

Republican economics lead to a Bush crash and Bush recession.

Republican economics lead to privatized military occupations so a few companies can get rich by skimming profits off of what used to be military services conducted by military personnel, much more efficiently and effectively than the private contractors. That's the Cheney legacy.

4. The R crew that has it's "ideas" have fallen remarkably short...
The only thing they are offering is another rewarming of the insane Reagan/bush policies that brought us to the brink of utter collapse.
Most pathetic bunch of losers that has ever come up the political turnpike in a long time.

6. To be fair, I'm not sure Obama has to try that hard.
