Gibbs was right about a Canadian health system |
|
I think most progressives know we need to work toward that a sensible system of that type. In other words, that we "won't be satisfied" or whatever he said.
Obama himself once said that even the public option was a first step toward single payer.
Yeah, a lot of progressives went along with Romneycare because it's better than the status quo, but of course we're not going to stop there. Why would progressives stop at the plan of a moderate republican?

1. he was implying that Canadian healthcare was BAD. |
|
as in, only crazy people who need to be drug-tested would want Canadian style healthcare.

He was implying that it was not realistic to get canadian style healthcare implemented in the US in lieu of what was passed, because it isn't realistic no matter how good of an idea it is.

4. that is NOT what he said. |
|
He compared wanting Canadian health care to wanting to abolish the Pentagon. ie. it is BAD.

6. Gibbs forgot that Obama, at one time, spoke out in favor of single-payer |
|
If what you say is correct, that Gibbs was merely implying that attempting to get Canadian-style healthcare here was ridiculous and ludicrous, is he then saying that Obama himself was, at one point, ridiculous and ludicrous?

7. Supporting a reform has no effect on whether or not it can get passed |
|
That distinction apparently does not exist with some people.

9. Quite the contrary, he was implying that Canadian healthcare was a great thing. |
|
His point was that some people wouldn't even be happy if they got it.

8. That's correct. Gibbs used Canadian healt care to CRITICIZE the "professional left" |
|
His insinuation was that it's crazy to desire Canada-style health care. Note that he mentioned 1) Canadian health care, followed immediately by 2) the professional left wants to eliminate the Pentagon.

10. Why wouldn't you be satisfied with the Canadian healthcare system? |
|

It rocks other than the lack of prescription drug coverage--but that's nowhere near as bad as ours, thanks to the Canadian price control system.
