God bless and protect our President and his family.
Edited on Mon Sep-06-10 03:49 PM by mahina
Shine your love and grace on them every day. Protect them, and guide them with love and wisdom. Help him find the strength, courage and wisdom within him to do the right thing in his many tests each day.

Thank you for bringing this man forward to serve. Thank you for guiding him.

I am not religious, not in any established sense of the term, but I find it beautiful and very close to how I feel. Why the thought (or purity, or whatever, or just simply cheap snark) police?

However, if atheists aren't tolerated in the Religion/Theology group, there's that little alert button...

It's the stuff STILL being said about him, and people like Palin. Even if you believe in God, s/he has nothing to do with who gets elected, unless you are either a Fundie or Presbyterian, and don't believe in Free Will.

This belongs in R/T, or possibly the Lounge. Not political discussion.

one has to wonder where S/He was when Bush was stealing the 2000 & 2004 elections or when JFK, MLK & RFK were being murdered.

At the very least, seeing as S/He brought Obama forward :eyeroll: you'd think the Republican obstructionists would have been smited by now and we might even have gotten real health care & financial reform. I just can't imagine God wanting to protect the insurance companies and Wall Street.

97. Yes it does, no matter your tradition. Meditate, beseech, "keep a good thought"...
... Light candles, do a little ritual, see the Obamas surrounded by white light, or just try to be tolerant of others doing this because what is the harm to you.

It wasn't until Baby Caligula had been in office awhile that I got over my reticence about "praying about politics" -- which I had always thought rather unworthy of pestering God/the Goddess about. Having that incredibly destructive cabal at the helm of my country made me realize that nations have "souls" and ours was in danger of losing its.

So I prayed for "the soul of my nation" -- you know, the essence embodied in our foundational documents and ideals. Sometimes I'd pray that Bush would be stricken by such a bolt of insight that he would come to the full realization of the harm that he had caused and was causing -- that, I figured, would be Hell on Earth for him, and was probably better karma for me than the recitation of imprecatory prayers.

So when I think about it, which isn't every day, I pray first for Obama to have a LONG life and two terms in office, and then I pray not for specific "things" but for him to have wisdom. Wisdom.

Hekate

115. Who said it was? Zen is very austere; Pure Land sects are more like Western "faith based" religions
Tibetan Buddhist sacred art is fabulously Baroque; Zen rock gardens are like a stripped-out Calivinist church.

Die in a "state of grace" and see Jesus when you arrive; die with Namu Amida Butsu on your lips and surely you will be reborn in the realm where enlightenment is guaranteed.

My point is there are many ways to get there; not all work for all people. What is your point?

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour." II Timothy 2:1-3

Edited on Mon Sep-06-10 09:07 PM by Techn0Girl
Who is going to bless and protect them?

People all over the country losing their family homes.
Student loan debt (due to deregulation) keeps tens of millions near destitution.
50,000 soldiers still in Iraq plus nearly double that amount in civilian contractors.
How many tens of thousands will be dead or crippled in Afghanistan this year?

But by all means let's wave the flag and, pray to our gods and bless the President who this year cut unemployment benefts by $100 a month and is ready to extend a billion dollar tax cut for the wealthiest among us.

Clap..clap...clap. Hooray for our side.

89. He can with Barak.
Judges

12 When they told Sisera that Barak son of Abinoam had gone up to Mount Tabor,

13 Sisera gathered together his nine hundred iron chariots and all the men with him, from Harosheth Haggoyim to the Kishon River.

14 Then Deborah said to Barak, "Go! This is the day the LORD has given Sisera into your hands. Has not the LORD gone ahead of you?" So Barak went down Mount Tabor, followed by ten thousand men.

15 At Barak's advance, the LORD routed Sisera and all his chariots and army by the sword, and Sisera abandoned his chariot and fled on foot.

16 But Barak pursued the chariots and army as far as Harosheth Haggoyim. All the troops of Sisera fell by the sword; not a man was left.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9PQr4ti4-o

First off as a Human Relations/Civil Rights guy there is nothing wrong with this post.

1. It is non denominational. This fits all the constitutional requirements for being said at any government meeting.

2. People of all faiths can agree with this.

3. Yeah it leaves the atheists and agnostics out but we have got to find a way of including them that I and others haven't thought of yet. But I am working on it.

Lastly My friend Brent Hahn recorded this at National Studios in NYC. Later on, when he told me, I told him I had mixed the audio at Clear Lake in North Hollywood for my friends ....The Ventures.

Yes that is really Max Weinberg playing drums along with Mel Taylor, who I loved sooooo much. It was the last project I did with them before we moved in separate directions. Me to media and them to further experimentation with sounds and new tunes. I love them all. Mel and Bob died. I feel them with me now.

god bless our President and keep him safe. Be He hoary thunderor or cosmic muffin.

46. Amen. As ugly as the rethugs continue to be, I am concerned that physical violence is the usual
course of action. They will cross all of the lines just to win.

83. +1000!
Exactly...it never hurts to put some of our positivity behind what we WANT, instead of giving SOOOO much of our energy to the negativity of what we DONT. The Universe doesn't necessarily hear negatives, so it's always best to call on our choices, not name our angsts.
Dont curse the darkness, light a candle ;)

53. I find myself cringing at his live events.
There are so many hateful people out there egging these lunatics on -- I'm terrified for Barack and his family. Hopefully, there will be enough 'thinking' people left in this country to re-elect and let him move this country forward instead backwards as the repukes insist we must do.

82. Protect the president from the evil right.
Pray, don't pray, send positive and protective vibes to him or whatever.
President Obama is in danger every day from the racist reich wing lunatics
who would rather see him dead than on vacation.

I may not agree with him on a lot of his actions, but he is or last, best hope
for peace today. Imagine if sarah palin were in charge right now....

86. Taken in the intention it is given
Whether invoking god or the flying spaghetti monster, I support our POTUS and think of his family and his own sanity often. It can't be easy to have to do what he does, and he has fallabilities too. He may be too eager to mend fences and make things okay, but I have a feeling that he is getting the naievete kicked out of him and we ain't seen nothing yet!

:woohoo: And here's some :grouphug: from DU to the First Family! :loveya:

109. and SMITE the enemies of the American people
the insurance companies, the pharmaceutical shills and their lackeys in Congress, the Koch Brothers, the teabaggers, Sarah Palin, Glen Beck, Newt Gringrich.... can I get an amen to open up a can of godly whup ass on Boehner? OH YES!

oh lord, bring a plague of frogs upon their houses!

oh lord, as Martin Luther intoned, SHIT ON THE DEVIL!

oh great blessed bullshit, save us from the American people who vote for fucking idiots in your name!!

Save us from bullshit that states any supernatural entity puts any politician in power, including one you like!

Oh, yes, yes, big orgasmic bullshit yes! huuuuuuuuuu, slay them in the spirit, god, and remove the fucking scales from their eyes the next time they want to deny rights of citizenship to gay people because of their religious prejudice!

Remove the scales from their eyes when they want to make women second-class citizens because of bronze age bullshit!

Deliver us from the evil that is contempt for reason, open the eyes of the American people to the hucksters that use religion to deny evidence of their stupidity!!

hallelujah, amen.
