DSCC reserves $2M for Murray
Senate Democrats plan to provide Washington Sen. Patty Murray with a significant financial boost in the final weeks of her challenging reelection campaign.

POLITICO has learned that the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee's independent expenditure arm has bought upwards of $2 million in television airtime across Washington state from Oct. 5 through Nov. 2.

The DSCC's move to allocate significant funds to Murray's campaign against two-time gubernatorial nominee Dino Rossi is an acknowledgment from the party that the three-term senator is locked in a tough race. Public polls show Murray in a statistical tie or barely leading Rossi, and the investment signals Democrats are serious about aiding Murray's reelection bid as she eyes the finish line

With the ad buy, Murray joins the ranks of a couple other Democrats in states where the DSCC has already reserved ad time this fall. The committee has confirmed it has reserved $1.3 million worth of air time in Kentucky and $4 million in air time in Missouri via the group's independent expenditure arm (Why not North Carolina?--Marshal is closer in the polls in that state than Carnahan is in MO?)

If I were the DSCC I'd also reserve some $$ for Feingold here in WI.

1. Smart move
and you're right about Feingold

As for NC? I can tell you we're working pretty had here, but I suspect that the problem is that the national party doesn't consider the race to be as competitive as the polls hint that it is. My guess is that this is because the "enthusiasm gap" is larger here than in most of the country - hinting that the race isn't as close in reality as it appears in most polls.

This, btw, is backed up by PPP - which is the NC democratic polling firm that almost owes their existence to the fight to convince us that Burr was vulnerable in the first place.

2. I'd love it if they'd kick some up here for Scott McAdams
According to the Anchorage Daily News this morning, they haven't done so yet, which I think is a HUGE mistake.

3. I'm glad they're doing it but it's not really a good sign if a dem has to fight for WA.

4. Good....I'm worried about this race.
The only polls I've seen recently were SUSA and Rasmussen and they had Patty trailing. I'd like to see a poll that doesn't have a rep for leaning Republican. I sure don't want that slimy BIAW front Rossi as my senator..
