1. 'Had a very insightful great aunt who used to say
that ninth grade girls can "get real catty."

Hi, impik.

I hope more and more readers will abandon Maureen Dowd and read Katha Pollitt instead -- both the political and social analysis and the poetry.

Maureen's mean when she's loaded, and what she's loaded with is herself.

3. Maureen has shown herself to be just another Villager having a public wank fest
she has wasted a clever mind on tripe, and written herself into irrelevancy.

5. Hi, SpiralHawk. Yep. I don't really care for her
snottiness these days.

It could be time for the NYTimes for reshuffle their editorial lineup.

"Obama’s bloodless rationality has helped spawn the right’s bloodletting of irrationality."
No doubt about it rationality is bad for the country.

6. I thought the piece was insightful
It may hurt to realize that Obama's strength (intellect and dispassion) is also his weakness, but it is the truth.

I am surprised by the ad hominem attacks against Dowd posted here in reply.

Shooting the messenger does not change the message.

7. The "dispassion" memo is utterly nonsense and baseless
There's a HUGE difference between being cool, calm and collected, and being apathetic or emotionless. Anyone who actually listen to him and watch his speeches, knows that. But people like this woman - and maybe you too - don't look for a president, they want an entertainer. They want a clown.

Well, you are all about to get your wish.

Seriously.

Your shtick is really getting old.

I can't help but notice the continuation of the ad feminem attack.

What's the matter, can't rebut her points?

18. I don't have to rebut a "point" that is so crazy, it made the NYT
close the comments section just a few hours after publishing this piece of garbage. Obama's sanity is the reason for the rise of this insanity??? And you want me to "rebut" that "point"? It's the most ridiculous article this woman wrote this year, and in her case the competition is tough.

The only reason for the rise of these nutcases is Obama's skin color. For a "Liberal" writer to go out and actually try to rationalize this madness - and if that's not enough, to blame the victim - is outrageous. Shame on you for actually agreeing with her.

20. Shame on you for not taking the opportunity to rebut
when it is offered.

I still haven't heard a reason why she is wrong.

And your attacks, turning on me, shows you have bupkiss.

Next time, come prepared.

9. Maureen likes to dress up real flashy
down at the pool hall.

It's her favorite game.

She went after Gore. Now she's aiming for this president.

Old game.

Real old.

11. They probably had to -- I suspect a lot of people
didn't care for what she had to say or how she said it.

It may be interesting in the next day or so to see if any letters about the column are printed in op-ed.

I waited to read your post. Hoping that, after my temper cooled down, I would be more receptive to your points.

And this is ALL you have?

C'mon, help me out here.

21. Obama may be to blame for the O'Donnell.
If so, it's a nice side effect.

But serciously, the tea partiers are Republicons who have been used to winning for a very long time. They have been gaining ground steadily. I had hoped it culminated in Gingrich's Contract on America. Sadly, this primary season suffers from momentum manufactured from the propoganda we've been force fed for a generation. We can agree that these people hate all Democrats. We can point to policy -- mandatory health insurance has ruffled more than a few feathers. We can contemplate that our President is not a white man.
But to pretend that Obama's "dispassionate" nature (which characterization I disagree with, btw) is just hogwash. Dowd wants to manufacture controversy. It's no secret that she's never been terribly fond of Obama. She has earned the ad hominem attacks.

19. Reading Dowd's column is like reading
a teenagers slam book. All snark and no substance.

She spent 2000 lying about Al Gore. She has no credibility.
