JFK's favorite quote is instructive: |
|
"The hottest places in Hell are reserved for those who in time of moral crisis preserve their neutrality."
which is apparently based on this, from Dante (translated):
And he to me: "This miserable way is taken by the sorry souls of those who lived without disgrace and without praise.
They now commingle with the coward angels, the company of those who were not rebels nor faithful to their God, but stood apart.
The heavens, that their beauty not be lessened, have cast them out, nor will deep Hell receive them - even the wicked cannot glory in them."
==================================
What is the current moral crisis and what is the neutral response to it?

7. Which is why he voted against the Civil Rights act of 1957. |

Why he initially opposed the March on Washington and allowed Bobby to wiretap DR. King. Have you ever wondered why the more famous Civil Rights bill is not known as "The Civil Rights Act of 1962"?
Great moments in legislative history often have nothing to do with courage and everything to do with the votes available in Congress.

I went to a march in Washington and the next day, I went to the Holocaust Museum. I bought a t-shirt that had that quote on it. I still have it and it looks well worn because it has been.
