14. If he has no coattails and can't turn this election around, who the hell cares about how personally
popular he is? Jeez. THIs election has been made about Obama and it should never have been allowed to be. If those folks don't vote down line, I don't give a flying F***K how many folks turn up at rallies.

17. In 1994, Rs picked up a net gain of 53 seats in the House and 7 in the Senate.
How'd ya like those coattails? Would you say Pres Clinton should not have have allowed his first midterms to go so terribly awry? Of course you wouldn't.

On the other hand, your nonstop browbeating of this president has been going on since day #1. Your comfort in imposing your grotesquely biased double standard reeks.

19. There are many
DUers who have done just that...The 1994 election results were, according to them completely the fault of President Clinton. There are some people who just cannot be happy unless they are placing blame on whoever is in office.

22. Is it too much to expect the Democrats or the Admin to have learned since then?
Edited on Sat Oct-30-10 06:41 PM by saracat
I never excused Clinton and see no reason to excuse anyone else. Good folks may be going down and it will not be their fault in many instances. The HCR and the fact that it doesn't do what it purports to do is killing some damn fine folks who merely supported it because they were told too and their careers may be finished as a result of that crap legislation. If we had passed the PO , we would NOT be in this position. And those are the facts.

15. There will always be some racists
but I really believe their numbers do not exceed 10% of
the entire population. They are not the main problem.
It is the economy, stupid.

6. Mostly racists.
There's probably a good Venn diagram of Republicans and racists showing the level of intersection.

The thing is, mere Republicans would simply disagree with him. That doesn't explain the hate. Something else is fueling that.

13. And a subset of DUers
but that's a somewhat separate pathology

Those photos tell a different story, though, don't they? They're outside the Beltway, outside the MSM, and they clearly love the guy. Now, if they only all get out and vote for Democratic Senators and Congresscritters.

9. I don't hate him, nor do I love him.
With me, and this is how I feel about EVERY POLITICIAN; he's on probation until the day I vote to either retain him or send him packing.

If he were on the ballot on Tuesday he'd get my vote. Plain and simple.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't be holding my nose as I pulled the lever (which is moot; I always request an absentee ballot and then take it to the polling place) because as far as I'm concerned, next Tuesday, he'd be nothing more than the lesser of two evils. I'm hoping that in 2012 he'll be someone who achieved legal protection for EVERY AMERICAN under the law (can you say Fourteenth Amendment?), and who ended two wars to the point of our not having Soldiers/Sailors/Airmen/Marines in harm's way on the other side of the world. Maybe along the way, he'd create a few jobs, but I think in the Grand Scheme of Things, JOBS are going to be his highest hurdle.

I'll say it again: I don't hate him nor do I love him. That's because I understand in the end He's nothing other than a politician who decided early on he wanted to ascend to the pinnacle of responsibility.

"Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown"... YUP. It's fucking heavy. Get used to it and stop complaining about people complaining. President Obama, you asked for this. You WANTED this job. 3-Dimensional cliche here...: If you can't use The Kitchen to make good shit, maybe you don't belong in The Kitchen.

His probation lasts for two more years. Let's hope that in that time, he can use The Kitchen to make some good shit. My Gay Daughter has her doubts. She's feeling like a grand opportunity has been wasted, and that she'll have to GO ON feeling uncomfortable in a large group of straight people. Feeling uncomfortable because she knows she's not LEGALLY as good as THEY are and because of that, they won't feel uncomfortable treating her as a Second Class Citizen.

16. People love celebrities.
It's human nature, I guess.

I was on a college campus a few years ago with a group of very liberal students. We were in lock down and couldn't go anywhere because Pres. Bush was visiting and all of the roads had been closed off. So we were all standing around complaining about the situation and joking that Bush had already made our lives miserable enough at that point (this was at the low point of his personal popularity). Then along comes the motorcade and I watch as the faces of everyone in the group literally light up and they start jumping up and down, shouting, smiling and waving with complete delight, begging the limo to stop. People who moments before had been trashing the man were acting as if it was the second coming of Christ.

Fame is a powerful drug, I guess.

Wish he'd stay closer to home so we wouldn't be subject to these embarrassing pictures of small crowds all scowling and grimacing.
