How The Hell Does Sarah Palin Get A National Stage?
I don't think this is what de Tocqueville had in mind when he opined that in America "one man's opinion is as good as another."

1. I blame John McCain.
No, seriously, I do. Of all the nasty, sleazy things he's done in his life, inflicting Sarah Palin on America is undoubtedly the worst.

5. Doesn't matter. Who needs an IQ when America loves a good train wreck?
I agree with the above. This is entirely John McCain's fault for elevating her to national status on a whim. Had he not done that, I doubt she'd be a blip on the radar.

WTF did she ever do but get herself pregnant at 17 and be the daughter of a woman

She has entertainment value and the media loves it. Get used to it, she is the media's pick for 2011-2012 and they are taking her to the primaries.

22. Because she's a train wreck, and the media loves train wrecks.
The ONLY reason she has a national stage is because the media provides it. The vast majority of people, including a majority of Republicans, don't like her. But the media doesn't care. They love her.

It's not that hard to figure out. They're simply doing what their bosses want. And their bosses want Palin to be a public figure. What's not to get?

And it's not just the conservative media, or even the "mainstream" media. Our own progressive media outlets on the Web are just as, if not more, fascinated by her.

"How The Hell Does Sarah Palin Get A National Stage?"

Someone has asked a question about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, in a thread not prompted by a news article (at least, none is quoted in the OP), that has generated this much traffic.

The answer is that the original poster, as well as everyone who has contributed to this thread (including wpelb), has given her one.

If you don't want to give her a stage, don't start threads about her. Ignore her.

40.  Sarah Palin simply represents the "People's Trainwreck". That's why.
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 05:52 AM by political_Dem
I cannot take credit for the euphemism, "The People's Trainwreck" because someone else dear to me coined it. Thus, the description stuck with me since the 2008 elections. However, the phrase adequately describes the inanity driving Palin's celebrity and followers. Furthermore, her antics simply add a chapter towards the reasons why this woman must never be the Leader of the Free World lest America truly has a death wish.
