OPTIMISM AT THE DNC: The Democratic National Committee just e-mailed reporters: "We’re continuing to see high turnout across the East Coast and moving into the plain states ahead of the lunch time voter rush. Reports of higher than expected turnout in highly Democratic areas continue to come in. Across the country, volunteers are hitting the doors and making phone calls, reaching out to voters and getting them to the polls."

6. I'm in a tiny little (pardon the expression) hick town, and the kids were out in force |
|
Seriously, it was only 11:00am and it looked like everybody who'd turned 18 this year was in there voting. People under 30 definitely outnumbered over 30 while I was in there.

13. The youngsters are PISSED |
|
And I don't think they're blaming the black man. No jobs, no money, living at home with the parents and they aren't voting for old, angry, white people.

18. Other than angry what is wrong with Old and White |
|
It seems sport to bash white guys, but that won't win you votes either.
And old people sometimes know shit...because they've been there before.
You want an example of an old, angry white person (now deceased)...
this person, my grandfather...old, angry, baptist, southern...when I asked him about gays his response?
"It's not my place to judge...they are Gods children too."
From an angry, OLD, WHITe dude...I haven't heard many blacks (who are NOT pro-gay rights) say much of that.

19. I was inferring Tea Baggers |
|
Because I don't see too many young tea baggers or black tea baggers or happy tea baggers. Now, myself, I am angry and white. I feel old (44), but maybe that is because I have a long memory and can remember accompanying my father in the voting booth in 1968. With all that, I feel that the old, white men running this country need to make room for everyone else 'cause they are REALLY fucking things up. I believe that is what the majority of youngsters really believe.

7. I live in a very red precinct and there was no waiting this morning. That was good news. |
|
given that where I live it is 90% republicon, I decided before I went in that if there was less than 10 people in line in front of me it was going to be a good day for the Dems.
there was nobody in front of me.

My son is 27, he worked all night, came to pick me up this morning to go vote. There definitely are young people very interested in this election.
Go Sestak!

I saw six voters total...
The machine did read 384 though, so some of them got up early.

12. in Chicago's suburbs, |
|
for EARLY voting, there were published reports of waits two hours long. That's a week ago, and people were already fired up and ready to go.
On our news radio program, someone from the elections board said the 60% turnout or HIGHER is now possible.
60%? at midterms? Wow.

that nominating Giannoulias was a mistake. But I am hoping ot eat those words later tonight.

There are 30-40% more registered Ds than Rs in this state. Heavy turnout is great news for us.
In my nape of the forest, (SW burbs) there are more Rs than Ds, but western and northern burbs are far more liberal.

people there are very progressive (except for my old landlady). As the poster above mentioned. The southern suburbs are where the 'Pukes are more concentrated.

24. on the opposite end of Cook County, |

mccain polled 2-1 over Obama. (I worked as an election judge and got the results directly)
But when I voted, I overheard people talking, and frankly, as many seemed to be pushing the screens for Ds and for Rs.
