To paraphrase [a la "Krugman on Krugman"]:
Edited on Sun Nov-21-10 11:13 PM by JamesA1102
More and more, it's becoming clear that (Krugman), who had (his) heart set on (joining the) Obama (administration as chief economic advisor, Krugman was) engaged in a huge act of self-delusion. Once you got past the (inflammatory) rhetoric you noticed, if you actually paid attention to what he said, that he (is more concerned about his reputation as a Nobel Laureate and) largely accepted the (progressive rant), a view of the world, including a mythological history, that bears little resemblance to the facts.

15. We don't need to tell ourselves anything
We know the truth and it is not what Krugman or Arianna or Hamsher are trying to sell these days.

17. Alan Simpson appointed to NCFRR.
Unemployment near 10% nationwide, and over 11% in my state.

No public option.

Continued wars.

A president who wants to make nice with an opposition party that would impeach him in a heartbeat.

There's some fucking truth. And before you waste the keystrokes, it's not the PACE, it's the DIRECTION.

18. Except under Obama:
Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 08:19 AM by JamesA1102
- we went from the worst recession in decades (-6% GDP last quarter 2008) to normal economic growth (+6.4% last quarter 2009, steady growth in 2010), and from losing 800,000 jobs a month to ten consecutive months of private sector job growth

- we went from an almost criminal health insurance system to a situation where insurers will soon be mandated to deliver the products consumers are buying, and where 30 million more Americans will have access to affordable HC

- soon 12 million more students will have access to college (Student Loan Act)

- the middle class and working families got the biggest tax cut in history

- the Dems are fighting hard to extend unemployment benefits until the unemployment rate is back to 5% again, extension that the GOP has always approved, until Obama came into office ..

- for the first time in more than half a century the Dems have started to REGULATE instead of DEREGULATING Wall Street

And so on and so forth.

Remember, cynicism never helped this country move forward, and is the last thing we need when we're in the aftermath of the worst economic crisis in decades.

21. No I mean specific people on the left
who are cherry picking facts. What's interesting is that many of them are former republicans.

3. Thw world needs more Krugmans
He tells it like it is... and I agree almost 99% of the time.

There are not that many people on earth that I agree 99% of the time.

9. I have yet to read something from Krugman that I find as distasteful as repeated
concessions to what was a minority party in congress.
