BP says it won't fight cap waiver on spill damages Reuters ...They blinked !

Some people talk and yell a good game.. and nothing gets done except yelling and talking

And some people keep the pressure up behind the scenes till it gets done.. and keeps it on course.

Yellers and screamers and chest beaters get a lot of attention.. personally I will take the ant over the grasshopper any day.

BP says it won't fight cap waiver on spill damages

But on Friday, the company said in a statement to Reuters Legal that if Barbier issues a court order making the cap waiver legally binding, "BP will not object."

On November 2, BP raised its estimated cost of cleaning up the Macondo disaster by $7.7 billion to $40 billion. BP will likely try to recoup some of these costs from its Macondo partners, Anadarko Petroleum Corp and MOEX Offshore 2007 LLC, as well as such contractors as Halliburton but the resolution could take years of court battles.

Under heavy pressure from the Obama administration, in June the company also established a $20 billion compensation fund for those damaged by the sp

It's good to hear some news about this. Seems to be almost forgotten by most people. Thank you.

12. We'd be apologizing to BP
And falling all over ourselves trying to find a way to make it all up to them. "We" being the USA, donchano.

6. Where's all the celebration?
If people really care about issues and advancing progressive causes then why isn't there a big cheer for another Obama victory over corporate power?

13. I'm convinced people don't care about issues at all...
Only their "Yay team!" mentality. The team on top right now is the one who would absolutely NOT be joining in any celebration of anything even loosely related to an "ataboy" for Obama.

It would be the same team that basically ignored GM's big IPO last week, because that would support Obama's idea that saving GM was worth the money, and we had a good chance in getting it back. Looks now like we'll be making a profit. So you can expect crickets on DU. Sadly, that's just how "we" roll these days.

This IS a HUGE win for Obama! You put it so well... this is indeed a victory over corporate power. I guess there wasn't a RW argument that couldn't be seen through on this one.

14. Anything positive is ignored. Anything bad is hyped out of proportion.
It seems that people (at DU at least) are determined to make the same mistake of the last two years. And I'm sure it will get us the same result as this month's election.

7. This is awesome news!
Obama and his administration deserve a lot of kudos for this!

Isn't that what DU should be doing? Shouldn't we be celebrating liberal and progressive progress? This is huge, people!

What gives? Do people not get this?
