Poll: Sarah Palin can't beat Obama. But Mitt Romney can.
Sarah Palin can’t beat Barack Obama. But Mitt Romney can – beat Mr. Obama, that is. Except he won’t get the chance, because he can’t beat Ms. Palin to get the chance to run against Obama.

1. As I've recently posted here, the GOP nom scariest to me for '12 is Romney.
Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 05:20 PM by BlueIris
Romney/Bloomberg would be competitive with anything we put up. Creeps me the hell out.

29. Romney is the strongest Republican candidate with the best shot at the nomination...
...is what I thought in 2007-8. He found a way to lose to John McCain. So he'll probably find a way to lose to Palin or Gingrich or DeMint or whomever.

3. Have we not been counting all significant Republicans sling
arrows at Palin??? Latest George Will: Sarah Palin
did not do what she was supposed to do. She did not
go home and finish the Governorship with a good record
and importantly, she did not immerse herself studying
up on issues, foreign policy, etc.

24. I have family members that watch and follow him faithfully. They are atheists, too.
They don't give a flying fart about his religion.

Mormonism will not matter in terms of electability in 2012.

Well, actually, the Mormons will pull out all the stops in terms of donations, so Romney's religion might be more than helpful.

Citizens United and the corporate media will finish off the job easy cheesy.

21. Conservative Evangelicals will NOT vote for a Mormon. To them it's a cult masquerading as Christian
and to them that is evil.

32. Well, I've been there, done that, know them, and I am sure.
Mormonism, which they perceive to be a cult passing itself off as Christian, is clearly anti-Christ and to them it always has been. That they will not vote for Romney for president does not mean they will vote for Obama either.

14. Maybe Palin can run third party and split the vote?
It seems possible for a schism to develop among the Republicans.

17. Thank You For Pointing That Out. A Third Party Right Wing Candidate Would Be A Gift
If the right of center vote is split then the equation is changed. But look at how Buchanan's third party effort faded in 00 when the right was desperate for a win.

25. It should be fun to watch
If the powers that be want to put a more "moderate" figure up for nomination - will the Beck/Hannity loonies gravitate towards a more extreme figure? They were pretty nonplussed with McCain.

They want desperately to vote for Sarah, but she cannot win; Romney can win, but they will not vote for him because of his faith, and their love for Sarah, but she cannot win; Romney can win, but..........

18. Romney would never get through the primaires
And if he did, he would look like a stiff board next to Obama in a debate.
Palin will blast through the primaries. The only danger is a third party run
by someone that would put the vote into the Republican House of Reps.
