Senate GOP Letter Calls for Blocking Most Bills By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: November 30, 2010
Filed at 10:19 p.m. EST
WASHINGTON (AP) — Officials say Senate Republicans intend to block action on virtually all Democratic-backed legislation unrelated to tax cuts and government spending in the current postelection session of Congress.
The officials say GOP leadership has quietly collected signatures on a letter pledging to carry out the strategy.
That could doom Democratic-backed attempts to end the 'don't ask, don't tell' policy for gay servicemen and give legal status to some young illegal immigrants.
A nuclear arms treaty with Russia that President Barack Obama wants ratified wouldn't be affected. Still, its passage isn't assured as Republicans want concessions.
Officials spoke about the Republican letter on condition of anonymity as they were unauthorized to discuss it.

Are we concerned, or do we give a fuck? and if we do give a fuck, what are we going to do about it other than blaming one man for the opposing party's actions....like the media does. That's what I want to know.

3. Good. That strategy worked so well the last time they used it. |
|
Seems they learned nothing from that.
People in this country are getting tired of the obstructionism, by members of either party. They want stuff to get done.

11. well, unfortunately it DID work well for them |
|
I'm not sure people--low-information voters, anyway--particularly require that stuff gets done; I think they want to hear a bunch of exciting and intriguing dramatics about taking their country back and yada yada yada, but they don't really pay attention to the follow-through.

Let them know Faux is a RNC propaganda arm, dammit.
I'd give DNC money if they had the gonads to air it nationwide DAILY. Spread the fucking word.
Have Olbermann and Maddow report every single Republican obstruction to meaningful bills.
Aw fuck it. We're fucked.

7. Anyone want to recall obstructionists to the Peoples' Will yet? |
|
Is it time or is it beyond past time for our wishes to be adhered to by the elected officials?!

8. This is why I was so pissed off when I found out the study was scheduled for Dec. |
|
If DADT doesn't get done gays will have seen exactly one law passed for them in two years of Congresses that had nearly 60% Democratic majorities. The North Carolina Legislature managed to equal that. Think about that for a second. The state which produced Jesse Helms managed to equal the pro gay record of a US Congress with huge majorites of Democrats. That is pretty damn sad.

They've only been doing this for the last two years.

13. I guess I have to wonder what the use of having congress has been especially in the Senate |
|
since the minority apparently has more power than the majority. I just wish that the Democrats would have used their power more when they were in the minority in the senate and Bush was president.
