3. It's a terrible deal. The rich got 2 years of tax cuts for 13 months of unemployment insurance. Does |
|
that seem equal or fair to you? I could see if he had added don't ask don't tell repeal, START, or the Dream Act to this but just on face value he sold out for cheap.

...and need to feed your family and keep a roof over your head...then 13 months of unemployment is EVERYTHING. You would want those people to suffer just because you can't stand the thought of rich people getting more money?????
Why don't you try a little empathy.

sacrifice hurting American people just to play political games with the Republicans (paraphrased).
The republicans don't give a flying fart about the economic welfare of the American people. Hell, they're counting on an economic meltdown and will do anything to ensure that there is no recovery! It helps that their base is made up of multiple-nationals that are making billions hand and over fist overseas.
Look, the middle-class tax breaks and unemployment insurance are intimately tied to the economy. Without them, we all go down when money is immediately sucked out of the economy, particularly in the short term without unemployment extensions. Longer term (2011 and on), the thousands in tax credits that the middle-class receives also keeps an already fragile economy from tanking. Without this, you would see this money, primarily between Jan - April, sucked out of the economy, as well. Then the layoffs will exponentially increase... And, on and on. This affects 99% of us, in real life, not just on the Internets.
That being said, I would like to see the 99ers (apologies for using this label) get a lifeline and get it now. But tearing down the President will get us nothing but sh*t & more Republicans in 2012. The sad reality is that too many progressives stayed home during midterms because they were too lazy, ill-informed, dense, etc. They brought you a Republican controlled house. That was not supposed to happen. They left the President with few options. Now, Obama must carve out the best policies under incredibly unfavorable circumstances. Welcome to reality, my friend.

24. Yeah, everone got something. Only thing is the rich got proportionately more and |
|
none of it will trickle down, just like it didn't trickle down under Bush. We gave up without barely a fight and used the excuse of extending unemployment benefits to justify what we gave to the rich Republicans. One would think that if the tax cuts expired we would have gotten more than enough to take care of our unemployed with the extra tax revenues. We should have had our cake and eaten it, too. I just think this deal was a little on the hasty side.

|
Pelosi unless i remember wrongly didn't want to make/vote on a bill before the senate made one, the senate didn't make a bill because they were worried it might hurt them in the midterms.
So answer me this, you have a president talking/trying to convince the congress a lot about needing to get this done, and a congress that ignores him for their reasons. What is the president supposed to do exactly since he can't *force* them to do something they don't want.

I heard a story that Pelosi fought with Rahm on the provisions of the HCR Bill.
It MAY be that the House was uncooperative and the Senate under Reid was practically comatose.
It still doesn't speak well of Obama, since he seems to get deals done with the GOP.
