(Photos) The Obama Presidency: December 13th, 2009 |
|
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama decked the halls of the National Building Museum in Washington, D.C. on Sunday for Christmas in Washington. Mary J. Blige, Usher, Rob Thomas, Neil Diamond, and Sugarland caroled through the night. George Lopez hosted the annual event that benefits the Children's National Medical Center. The program will be broadcast on TNT on Sunday, December 20 at 8 p.m. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama walk onto the stage during Christmas in Washington at the National Building Museum in Washington Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009.President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama pose for a picture with a group of 'elves' Avery Johns, left, Anna Matsui, Abigail Lothian, Reagan Lungrenas they attend Christmas in Washington. Pool group briefly watched four little girls dressed as elves help POTUS and FLOTUS put a gift for Children's National Medical Center -- the beneficiary of this Christmas in Washington concert -- under a Christmas tree. POTUS announced, "It's Santa's little helpers!" as the girls approached. The four girls were Avery Johns, age 4, Anna Matsui, 6, Abigail Lothian, 4, and Reagan Lungren, 7. POTUS subsequently added "elf" to each of the girls' name -- as in Avery Elf and Anna Elf. The girls were all smiles for the press, but Anna maybe wasn't as impressed. She told POTUS, "I've never seen you before!" POTUS responded with laugh, "I've never seen you before." http://thepage.time.com/pool-reports-obama-at-christmas-in-washington-event/ Sugarland's Kristian Bush, left, Mary J Blige, President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama and George Lopez (not shown) get together to sing during Christmas in Washington.U.S. President Barack Obama (L) and first lady Michelle Obama greet comedian George Lopez... because no benefit would be complete without some cheesey group singing... He is trying SO hard with very little help from his own party. I know what it is like to have Christmas as an "orphan," (even as an adult orphan, you feel it). I love the man. I don't always agree with him, and I wish he were more change-y and less consensus-y, but god love and protect him, this season and always.
