I ask this because they often (in so many words) make the claim that a "socialist" health care system would inevitably lead to communism.

They apparently are in agreement with Karl Marx, who claimed that socialism was history's fifth "tribal life" step. Communism, Marx (and the tea-baggers) concluded, is history's sixth and final step.

Let's look at some nations that have adopted socialist or quasi-socialist health care systems:

1) Canada - single payer health insurance system. Still a capitalist society.

2) Germany - hybrid public/non-profit private health care system. Still a capitalist society.

3) The Netherlands - ditto

4) the Nordic countries - again

5) the U.K - an outright national health health care system. Still very much of a private, free enterprise nation

etc.

Comrade Rush? Chairman Hannity?

1. Israel has single payer universal health care and LGBTs serve openly in military
Let's adopt Israel's health care system (similar to UK's NHS), and dare the likes of Lieberman to oppose it.

4. Somebody in the press should ask Lieberman, "Why do you hate Israel's health care system?"

And "Why do you hate Israel's gay soldiers, Senator?"

2. Yes they are. And they've also forged the Republican party into a RW vanguard
It's as though the GOP has decided to use the party practice of Leninism in order to promote business and social conservatism

3. No, they're fascists
Mussolini described fascism as the mixture of government and corporate power.
