Did I miss the GOP's Celebratory Press Conference?
Edited on Tue Dec-15-09 02:35 AM by Clio the Leo
Did I miss the GOP's Celebratory Press Conference? You know the one where they claimed victory for causing "Obama's Waterloo"? I mean because if we've failed at delivering health care reform, the largest issue the Republicans are fighting us on, you'd think they'd take advantage of our failure to take full credit for it?

Or were we so busy telling one another that we've failed that we forgot to tell them? I mean, seriously, I follow that Palin woman on Twitter and I would think she, of all people, would take advantage of the Dems utter and complete failure to deliver health care reform to serve up a little snark. It's gotta be like 1pm in Alaska now, it's not like she's asleep!

Well, hopefully one of them reads DU so they'll know that our effort was a failure.

Maybe the GOP was too stunned by the fact that the former Saturday Night Live dude ("With special guest star Sherrod Brown!") is more intelligent than all of them put together to notice.

And, thanks to Sens. Franken and Brown, my John Thune nightmares wont be as scary tonight. :)

4. It's almost funny to read DU and then deal with wingnuts
Who are so glum because of this "communist" health reform bill that will destroy our "freedom."

5. I love this part
Franken was incensed by Thune’s earlier claim that the Senate health care bill does not offer benefits until 2014. “We are entitled to our own opinions; we are not entitled to our own facts. Benefits kick in right away.” Later, Franken commented on Thune and the GOP leadership's reading habits:

6. It would be bad taste of them -- but they're high fiving in the back rooms
This is lame enough not to have upset the Republican goals, while containing enough poison pills (mandates with no public plan) to give them a lot of ammo against the Democrats.

"See they're forcing you to buy private insurance, and they won't even let you have a public plan."

7. Let me ask again?
Did the GOP have a "We Won!" presser today that I missed? I took a nap in the early evening, so if it happened then, I slept through it.

What about that bagger rally? When they found out that we'd "lost the battle to reform health care" did they cancel their rally and go party instead?

.... apparently they didn't get the memo.

8. You don't have a presser when you have a bunch of punk ass's tossing your salad.
You sit back and enjoy.

9. Its not time yet
After "Joe Care" becomes law they will use it to beat the living shit out of us in the 2010 and 2012 elections. A bill that delivers 30 million unwilling Americans to the insurance industry - that raises taxes - that adds to the debt - and does nothing to control costs is a dream come true for the republican party.
