4. Well,
job losses Obama and Democrats responsible. Job gains...

Who do you believe should get the credit?

6. No one party ever deserves all of the blame or all of the credit for any large economic trend
Both the Legislative and Executive branches of government can help or hinder the economy through trade regulation, tax rates, and other aspects of monetary policy. Government can also create jobs by simply hiring people.

But about 91% of the jobs in this country are in the private sector. The economy, for the most part, runs itself in spite of what government does or does not do. Most jobs are created when people start or expand businesses. Government actions can make conditions for business growth more or less favorable, and influence the kinds of businesses that are favored.

I found her remarks arrogant and narcissistic.

So Clinton doesn't deserve credit for creating jobs and leaving a surplus and Bush isn't responsible for squandering it, adding trillions to the debt and triggering the worst economic crisis in more than seven decades?

"I found her remarks arrogant and narcissistic."

That's your opinion, but she said nothing unusual.

Edited to remove snark.

9. I forgot to mention that tens, no, hundreds of thousands of people where hired temporarily in 2010

For the census. Nobody deserves credit for that. Likewise, the recession is bound to end sooner or later, which by definition means more jobs.

He deserves SOME credit. I never said nobody deserves credit for effective, appropriate economic policies. To quote myself with emphasis added:

"No one party ever deserves all of the blame or all of the credit for any large economic trend"

I stand by my comment.

So you think the Republicans deserve some credit (on edit: specifically for current job creation)?

How much?

12. Let me put it this way - I sincerely hope that the economy is much better two years from now.
Edited on Fri Jan-07-11 12:15 PM by slackmaster
I hope unemployment is back down below 7%, and that the news conveys positive trends every day.

If that happens, I'll be here in the crowd with you and everyone else on DU denouncing John Boehner for claiming credit that he and the Republican-controlled House of Representatives don't deserve.

BTW, your dogged insistence on interpreting my use of the word "party" in my original reply as "political party" without even bothering to ask me for clarification says a lot.

13. Boner did'nt fix a thing
103,000 new jobs in December and 250,000 new workers enter the job market based on
population increase. Which simply means more people stopped looking for jobs.

Kerry drove this point home in 2004 but obviously not enough people were listening.
