I thought the Sheriff new something we didn't.

Palin still needs to be blamed. She has the habit of saying things w/o thinking about people's feeling. A very mean spirited person.

He cannot be anti semitic since according to mother jones, hes himself is jewish

Tierney believes that Loughner was very interested in pushing people's buttons—and that may have been why he listed Hitler's Mein Kampf as one of his favorite books on his YouTube page. (Loughner's mom is Jewish, according to Tierney.) Loughner sometimes approached strangers and would say "weird" things, Tierney recalls. "He would do it because he thought people were below him and he knew they wouldn't know what he was talking about."

The plot thickens

Jared Lee Loughner: erratic, disturbed and prone to rightwing rants
Loughner echoes concerns of Tea Party movement in videos that reveal fears about government brainwashing

====

In a series of videos, he gave a rambling account of obsessions and paranoias that appeared to be troubling him with increasing intensity up to the catastrophe. They included references to conscious dreaming, or "conscience dreaming" as he called it, a process of directing one's own dreams that he is thought to have practised. Another was a belief in the gold and silver standard of currency – a favourite topic of the rightwing of American politics that is regularly propounded by the Fox News commentator Glenn Beck.

The tone of Loughner's rantings is almost exclusively conservative and anti-government, with echoes of the populist campaigning of the Tea Party movement. "Don't trust the government listener!" he said in one video, accusing Washington of mind control and brainwashing.

The US constitution, the bible of the Tea Parties, features heavily, as does the suggestion that the federal government is acting against the text. "You don't have to accept the federalist laws. Read the United States of America constitution to apprehend all of the current treasonous laws."

There is also a strong streak of implicit violence in the postings.

Someone will find letters to the editor, on blog entries, maybe a Amazon book review (since his thing was literacy) that will expose him. Someone will remember him at a rally. It will be exposed, but don't expect a journalist to do it, they no longer exist. It will be one of us. Get to work.

The shooting just took place yesterday; the formal charges came today, but I doubt the state and federal authorities are divulging too many details.

If there's any justice, Palin - or at least someone in her orbit if she's too far in denial - are shitting bricks wondering if there's any evidence that she and/or the Tea Party are held in high regard by the shooter.

And I find it fascinating that RW media personalities are claiming that because he posted that Mein Kamph was one of his

Judy Clarke, who represented "Unabomber" Ted Kaczynski and assisted in the case of confessed al-Qaeda operative Zacarias Moussaoui, has been appointed to represent Jared Lee Loughner, the man charged by federal authorities with two murders as well as the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and two others.

20. This thread is absolutely brilliant.
1) It implies that the accused assassin isn't sympathetic to the Rape-Pubicans, when it's becoming clear that he is, even though we don't know of any direct evidence yet, and

2) It creates an impression that progressives are cold and politically calculating, in that the poster claims to be "a little disappointed" that we can't play gotcha with our opponents.

Brilliant. Disgusting, but brilliant.

Every single one was a 'question' like:

I keep hearing people who are starting a business complain about The Health Care law, how exactly does it hurt?

Do you remember the article on Obama's time as Harvard Law Review Pres? If I remember right, all of his supporters became unhappy w/ him because he tried too hard to woo the conservatives. Sound familiar? Should have been a sign.

Moveon.org is doing their part to get Obama out of office. That new BP ad basically blames Obama.

65% of White Voters disapprove of President Obama. Why is this? That's scary.

whenever Obama does what progressives want, his numbers go even lower. It's actually troubling. Maybe this country really is center right.

This Rep. Franks(R) is really hitting the right notes on MSNBC right now. Surprising really. I liked what he's saying more than what Obama was saying. Obama didn't convey anger like this guy.

Reports are saying the economy is back, will Repubs get all the credit?

Do you care if Bradley Manning is kept in isolation? The guy leaked classified info. He's lucky he's still breathing.

51. Pothead Loughner registered as Independent and did not vote in 2010
Suspected Tucson gunman Jared Lee Loughner registered as an independent voter in Arizona in the fall of 2006, according to the Pima County Registrar of Voters.

Loughner registered to vote on Sept. 29, 2006, identifying himself as an independent. Records show he voted in the 2006 and 2008 elections but is current listed as "inactive" on the state's voter roles -- meaning that he did not vote in November.

Loughner's decision to affiliate as an independent rather than a Republican or Democrat would seem to affirm the sense that while he targeted Giffords in the attack, it was not a decision born of a set of deeply held political beliefs that fit neatly into either party.

56. If by can't you mean that the right have moved quickly to cover their asses with their
media machinery, then yes they can't be connected to the shooting.

Wait and see what happens.

69. Maybe this is a wakeup call for America
The tea baggers, Palin, Rush, Glenn Beck and others have tapped into an angry, uncivil and bigoted segment of our society and turned behavior that was at one time ugly and unacceptable mainstream, profitable and family oriented. They have helped create and promote the atmosphere that produces and encourages behavior that while profitable for them, can result in tragedy.
I work in a courthouse and violent outbursts, disrespect for judicial officials, law enforcement and general lack of civility has quadrupled and become more prevalent. Everyone is so angry and loud and mean spirited. Jared's are everywhere. They don't need a party affiliation. Anger is profitable and a quick ticket to celebrity and the right are taking their 10% off the top before heading back to their gated communities.

71. who said he can't...
do you think it wise for a sheriff to reveal all evidence even before a jury is picked? You don't get a high conviction rate that way.

72. I'm waiting for all of the facts to come in before I make that jump
I haven't seen any proof that A. this guy knew what planet he was on and B. That Palin's chart inspired him to kill.
