It's really annoying when the media ask "Why would Palin say____?" |
|
Because she's an idiot and just reads what's put in front of her. It's pretty obvious.

1. They should ask her... |
|
They should know how to ask questions... unless they are reading what's put in front of them... oh, right. Never mind.

2. If it were just her you'd be right... |
|
...but she has a pretty savvy organization behind her. Palinism has a lot of wrong headed but intelligent people behind it, and they have a lot of money to hire very clever operatives who are far more intelligent than she is. Palin is the figurehead, but behind her is a pretty vile yet powerful movement.
That operation may be choosing her words more carefully than you think.
The term "blood libel" may appear to have been a blunder, but you've gotta understand what audience she is trying to appeal to - and it isn't us.

3. No it's a deliberate strategy to reframe the discussion. |
|
Whether it "works" or not remains to be seen.
But in any case it has already changed the subject, and when you are being raked of the coals in public, ALL noise is good, the bigger the uproar the better. Preventing your enemies from making their argument is almost as good as having an argument yourself.
