How can Bachmann give a response to the President's SOTU speech
and for that matter, Ryan, when neither of them have heard it yet. Both have been pre-recorded and to me, this is nonsense. I wonder also how many thinking people will turn to Bachmann at least, to hear her interpretation. It's all such theater and so juvenile. I'm willing to wager what they both respond to will have little or nothing to do with what POTUS actually says. What if he announces something none of the pundits anticipated? Best to listen to POTUS, see what KO on Twitter says then go onto some more entertainment.

1. advance copies
of the speech were probably given to members of Congress and embargoed until the President delivered it. I think I've read about this before.

3. The SOTU has rarely served as anything more than political theater
Anyone can respond to it, and there is no requirement to respond to its content.

7. The Constitution requires that the President give a SOTU
but nothing requires the President to present it directly to the Congress in the form of a speech or to the public. Early history has Presidents presenting it in a letter.

There is no mention of Congress being required to present a response. Possibly an invention of the media or a Republican demand when they were in the minority years ago.

5. The same way some respond to Obama's plans for SS before he announces them?

8. The republicans are imploding. I hope the show gets better from here.
Maybe the teabaggers will nominate their own candidate in 2012. *fingers crossed*
