For those media pundits who think Obama could lose in 2012... against who?
I heard Tweety mention it and he's mentioned it before... but does he have any idea what a Presidential campaign is?

Obama would not be running against The Onion's Area Man. He wouldn't be running against the anonymous avatar in a half-done Twitter account. He wouldn't be running against some blurry, foggy image that's been scrambled to hide their identity.

Obama is clearly running way ahead of anyone that is saying they are running. Republicans ALWAYS run establishment candidates and have to appeal to far-right 20%ers in order to get the nomination.

Again, when people like Tweety throw that tepid argument out, I ask...

...against who?

1. It's too early to know who wins in 2012.

6. Huckabee is a credible threat
And Jeb Bush would be if was interested in running, which it seems like he's not.

9. I don't think so. He's likeable, but ultimately doesn't appeal to the masses...
leadership-wise. I don't think he's seen in that sort of leader of the free world role by even the Republicans.

Jeb Bush would be a contender.

11. The Maurice Clemmons incident will kill him nationally.
No one likes a cop killer that should have never been set free.

10. That's what I say when posters ask if we're going to support O if he does this or that.
I get spittin' mad at some things, but then I think...who else would I vote for? I certainly wouldn't vote to nominate anyone to run against him as the Democratic candidate. That's out. And would I vote Republican? There was a time that I did (shhhhh don't tell!). But now? In these times?

I think that's why Obama will almost certainly win. He's a popular incumbent. Even though his popularity will probably go down in the next 2 years, he's been pretty popular throughout the first two years, so he'll probably remain at least reasonably popular. And no one in the Republican Party would be fairer on, say, Social Security. So....

Jimmy Carter lost, but everyone could see that coming. He shouldn't have run for a second term, and the party even asked him not to.
