Republicans are really going to hate this HBO Ronald Reagan doc |

Glad it's not a fluff piece.

3. the story about the tiny ceramic White House is a tear jerker... |
|
.... I dont care what your political philosophy to see someone that powerful reduced to such a state.
Apparently, near the end of his life, he was working in his office and came back to the kitchen for lunch. Nancy noticed that his hand was wet. She said, "why is your hand wet?" She noticed his fist was clenched, holding something. She opened his hand and inside his palm as a small ceramic White House that they kept in a fish tank in his office. He had reached in and taken it out.
He said to her, "I dont know WHAT this is, but it has something to do with me."

8. I can't even begin to imagine what he and his family went through. |
|
The fact he lived so long with Alzheimer's must've been extremely taxing on him and his family.
When my grandpa had a stroke, he was in a rehabilitation hospital and in the room over from him, there was a woman with Alzheimer's. She spoke to herself a lot and no one ever came to visit her. So when I'd go visit my grandpa, I'd always go in and check on her. She'd think I was her grandson (I was maybe 12 at the time of this) and I didn't tell her I wasn't. We would just talk and I think that made her very happy.
She never remembered me when I would come to visit. But that was okay. It was still amazing to talk with her. Even if she'd get confused really easily.

9. That was such a thoughtful thing that you |

did for her. So many 12year olds (or adults either) wouldn't have the sensitivity and patience to be so kind to someone like that.

10. My grandmother also had a stroke and could barely move... |
|
.... the entire time I knew her. Yet her mind was sharp as a tack the whole time. (She could say the alphabet in reverse faster than anyone else could say it the normal way.) I know now that great mind of hers was a blessing.

I didn't watch it, because I thought it was going to be more Reagan propaganda. We certainly have enough of that this week. Guess I will go ahead and record it now.
