I'm getting serious about diet and activity per the first lady.
I'm in my mid 40's and am now convinced that if I'm going to see a progressive president before I die, I'll have to be around for a very long time.

1. hope you don't have to wait too long - I am @ 20 years older
and I have a strong desire to see one more progressive.
I remember America's last progressive - Dick Nixon - tried to pass universal HC and a 'minimum annual income' and did pass title IX.
But watergate did him in.

2. Isn't it heartbreaking that we have to pine for Nixon if you want
to wax nostalgic for the day when progressive policies would get an actual airing and debate.....

4. I'm 20 years older too.
stopped smoking a year and half ago and have lost 40 lbs sense last May.
I think I'll live long enough to see some people sorry about the crazy Republicans that they just voted in. Especially here in Ohio.

5. Excellent!
I started myself in February two years ago, during the primaries. I had quit smoking, later quit drinking, and took up bicycling to work to eliminate one car from the budget. Well worthwhile, and easy to keep up once everything is going along well.

One of my motivations was listening to Obama about how different the country could be, and what it would mean to be hopeful and positive about the future. Shaking off years of negativity takes some time, but is a part of wanting to be healthy and positive and a worker for "the good". I'm 46 myself.

8. Me too. For my first rigorous hike, I had quite an adventure! look here:

Maybe we can't solve all the problems of the world, but getting away and getting some perspective now and then is calming for the nerves, good for the soul, and great for your health.
