Patrick Eyed for DNC Chairman?

With DNC Chairman Tim Kaine being pressured to run for the U.S. Senate from Virginia, Reid Wilson speculates that Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) -- author of the forthcoming A Reason to Believe -- is "ramping up his national profile for a reason, and it's not just for his health."

"Patrick is close with Pres. Obama, and he's certainly a short-lister if and when certain Cabinet positions open up... But maybe there's a more immediate position coming open in which Patrick might be interested: Chairman of the Democratic National Committee."

2. Huge speculation Patrick has said he would stay for his entire term, so I hope it is not the case.

If he is tired to be governor (he was just reelected), he can run for Senator against out idiot junior senator. Otherwise, it would be bad for both the party and MA that he has two jobs, but my feeling is that it is just more speculation (similar to Kerry and SoS).

The media are never tired with these speculations. Without them, they would have to write about issues, and they certainly dont want to do that.

3. He'd be way better than Kaine. Way better.
I like Deval Patrick and have for some time. While Kaine is an anti-equality theocratic man of the past, Patrick has been on the side of the angels even before his daughter came out. Now he's family with the angels, and that tends to make powerful alliances. Kaine sees Patrick's daughter as being unfit for equal rights, in the eyes of himself and of God, for whom Kaine feels at liberty to speak, for some odd reason. Governor Patrick speaks for himself.
He's had a few gigs that to me are ugly Corporate shilling, but then, so have I, and I find in his work at those Corps some positive outcomes others in the job might not have cared about.
If the lovely State of MA can afford to share him or lose him, I'd support Patrick for Chair.

7. Sadly Patrick is anti-union. So I have no problem with letting him go and be DNC chair.
Good luck to him.

4. I cant imagine why somebody would want a thankless job like DNC chair.
Dean led a Democratic Party who went to victory and was basically ignored. Kaine is still there and people want him to become Senator? So, the least well you do, the better your outcome is?

5. The Dem party wants Kaine to run only because he still has good poll #'s in Virginia.
I am sure Dean still has great polling in Vermont, if Bernie Sanders were ever to retire (can't see anyone challenging him from the Dem party until then).

6. Not to mention, I would bet that Patrick will do more to help the Democratic party
by being the best governor of Massachusetts he can be. The better MA fares relative the rest of the country - and particularly certain Republican led states - the better argument we have.

It is near certain that regardless who the Republican nominee is, they will want to point to states like NJ, where Christie is trying to cut everything he can - even while restoring a tax on people at the very highest income that Corzine enacted due to budget problems. The best counter is if MA is doing much better than NJ - as they previously have been relatively similar.

I think the real reason that the DNC, DCCC, and the DSCC were thankless jobs in 2010 and will likely not be great jobs in 2012 is that 2010 was clearly going to be a bad year and 2012 will be very tough (especially for the head of the DSCC)- compared to 2006 and 2008. Dean should get enormous credit for the work he did developing the state parties, but it was not just Dean, Rahm, and Schumer who created the victories in 2006 and 2008.

8. He should let Patrick stay where he is for the time being and give Dean back his old job.
