That's the coverage I'm seeing out there. I'm not talking about people here who hold one view or the other or express ambivalence; I'm talking about politicians and commentators who hold both views simultaneously.

"Obama should not be bombing Libya, and he's wrong for not bombing three weeks ago."

They're not saying he's bombing too late, they would be criticizing him today regardless of which direction he'd gone. They're also upset at the notion that a President should observe and think about a situation instead of producing a knee jerk reaction.

3. Happens in HS debate...but only in novice debate.
The negative attacks significance & harms, and then offers a counterplan:

"There is no problem, and our solution is superior!"

Never saw anybody not a 9th grader run it, and no one, not even 9th graders, run it twice.

6. Please don't turn this thread into a call-out against other DU'ers.
I was actually inspired by the Fiore cartoon about smart bombs.

8. Military Force Should be a Last Resort,
and Obama waited until just the right time IMO. Contrary to the posters making comparisons to Bahrain, it is not a good idea to intervene simply because a government opens fire on protesters. Nonmilitary options are the first step, like they were in Libya.

None of the situations in other middle eastern countries have risen to the level of Libya. As long as the limits in the UN resolution are observed, this should be a successful intervention, and possibly lay the groundwork for future controls on civil wars and massacres within a single nation.

9. I think the real criticism from the right is that we aren't necessarily in charge
Right-wingers detest the notion of anyone leading a military force that isn't American.
