Message to new AWESOME DNC head!!
Edited on Tue Apr-05-11 07:38 PM by vaberella
Can we get something other than the D in a circle? Maybe something pink. I like pink. :D

Welcome on board. Oh and thanks President O for recognizing the importance of the minority contribution to the United States. Meaning making history. I was just informed this is the first woman head of the DNC ever! I'm sure the Republicans never did this. I'm glad we have a woman on board. I also like the fact that you hired the most minorities in your cabinet---from women, people of Afro descent, Latinos, Asians, LGBT, Athiests and so on. It really makes me feel like a part of this nation. Many of us come from multi-cultural backgrounds and it's great to see that reflected in our President, but also our government (despite the scary Congress) and of course by the Democratic party that is paving the historical firsts of my generation!!!

I'm loving all the ladies!

Debbie Wasserman-Schultz
Hillary Rodham Clinton
Elizabeth Warren
Susan Rice
Kathleen Sebelius
Janet Napolitano
Hilda L. Solis
Elena Kagan
Sonia Sotomayor

Yeah...I'm a girl. So I'm about to have a Chick-gasm over this list! :nuke: :hide:

There are many more unnamed ladies. Thanks. I love how diverse culturally or I should say ethnically that list above is. Awesome!

My take on DWS---She's the best out there. One of the biggest problems of the Democratic party is language and communicating our message clearly and effectively. DWS is one of those people who's able to do that. I love her on CNN and on MSNBC because she knows her stuff. As I said in another post, if she doesn't know her topic, she will do her homework before hand and let a Muther know. She did this on Tweety's show once. Where the guy was like, "What did you do...memorize my district?" And she was like, "Yes." <----She had me at YES! I love a woman who does her research and homework before hand. She doesn't come on television to be made a fool of. She will talk to you down and do it so that everyone else in the room gets it and knows it. She's PWNAGE in the flesh.

I found the video of her talking about Districts! She's so cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wu_-R7RahBU

When I grow up, I want to be just like her!

1. Thank you for that post!
It is so good to see the positive - as opposed to the whiny!

5. Don't think Warren would be pleased DWS is coauthor of bill to delay debit card fee limits
Lawmakers try to stall law on cutting debit card 'swipe' fees

By Fredreka Schouten
USA TODAY

The lobbying war centers on a provision championed by Illinois Sen. Richard Durbin, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, that requires the Federal Reserve Bank to issue rules that place "reasonable" limits on the fees. The limits would go into effect in July.

Draft Federal Reserve rules would slash more than $12 billion in bank revenue annually by capping the fee at 12 cents per transaction. Currently, banks charge an average of 44 cents per transaction, according to a recent Federal Reserve study.

Seventeen senators, led by Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., have sponsored a bill, that could come to the Senate floor as early as this week, to delay the new rule by two years and require a one-year study. Tester, who serves on the Senate banking committee, counts the political action committees and employees of Wall Street firms among his top campaign contributors, according to a tally by the non-partisan Center for Responsive Politics. A House bill, co-authored by Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., calls for a one-year delay.

Banks have decried the proposed cap as price-fixing by Congress and say consumers will feel the pinch as they take other steps to make up for the lost revenue, such as increasing ATM fees and eliminating free checking accounts. JPMorgan Chase, for instance, is ending its debit card reward program.

"If you are nicking into our profits, we will find a way to recover that," said Dan DeLawder, the chairman and CEO of Park National Bank in Newark, Ohio, who helps lead an American Bankers Association task force on the fees.

6. Agreed. However, it's not relevant to this topic. It's not about who likes who or happy with who.
It's about O putting very smart women, who are qualified, in positions of power that have never been held by women before. I appreciate this recognition. We're a diverse bunch in all aspects except one and for welcoming these different inputs is fundamental in a progressive outlook of the nation.

11. It is relevant in that she will be raising money from banks and is the co-author of this bill.
Edited on Wed Apr-06-11 07:07 AM by flpoljunkie
Senator Tester was just on Morning Joe trying to sell the bill--he's the author of the corresponding bill in the Senate--by saying it would hurt small banks and consumers. What it will hurt is big bank profits--plain and simple. The fees should be lower for big banks and credit card companies due to volume, volume, volume. It could be set higher for small banks by the federal regulators who are writing the rules.

I have supported Debbie Wasserman Schultz in the past and will in the future. She is a great fundraiser and networker and will be great as head of the DNC.

13. No it's NOT relevant. This is about appreciation of women put in power.
Edited on Wed Apr-06-11 10:09 AM by vaberella
That's it. It's not about the politics they're involved in procedurally. I don't care if the women are counter each other. That's fine. I don't think HRC agrees with Susan Rice on everything. And I'm not about that. This is SIMPLY an appreciation thread.

The last lines in your post is what is relevant to thread!

17. But that is not what I'm talking about in my post.
It's the historic fact that we have a woman in a place that was ONLY dominated by men. That is something in and of itself that deserves recognition. Everything thing is debatable. Fine. But this post is not discussing who she'll be asking for money or how. Or what her position is on things. She's a woman who's broken one glass ceiling in the Democratic party with the help of Obama. And that is what I am talking about. This is why I say your topic is completely irrelevant. What does her historic placement have to do with money from Wall Street? Not much really unless you make all of these other political connections. On the face of it. A smart woman has now taken a role that was solely dominated by a man. <---That is what I am praising. Nothing less and nothing more. And I'm thanking Obama for doing this.

18. But, it is what I am talking about in mine, and it is indeed relevant to her job as DNC chairman.
And, to where the Democrat party is looking to raise money in 2012. This bill is a signal to banks from the Democrats. They passed a weak financial regulatory bill, and now they are lining up to further weaken it. Shame on them.
