Republicans "find" 7,582 votes for Prosser
Edited on Thu Apr-07-11 06:55 PM by TheBigotBasher
The Political wing of the Tea Party Terrorists have found 7,582 votes for their pet Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate.

The Clerk involved took her computer systems off the State network so vote tallies could not be verified.

http://www.jsonline.com/news/waukesha/100595954.html
Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus' decision to go it alone in how she collects and maintains election results has some county officials raising a red flag about the integrity of the system.

Nickolaus said she decided to take the election data collection and storage system off the county's computer network - and keep it on stand-alone personal computers accessible only in her office - for security reasons.

"What it gave me was good security of the elections from start to finish, without the ability of someone unauthorized to be involved," she said.

Nonetheless, Director of Administration Norman A. Cummings said because Nickolaus has kept them out of the loop, the county's information technology specialists have not been able to verify Nickolaus' claim that the system is secure from failure.

"How does anybody else in the county know, except for her verbal word, that there are backups, and that the software she has out there is performing as it should?" he said. "There's no way I can assure that the election system is going to be fine for the next presidential election."

Nickolaus is a former staffer for the Assembly Republican Caucus who was granted immunity in the investigation into allegations of illegal campaign activities on state time.

The Republican now claims she failed to properly save a spreadsheet after inputting the Brookfield numbers Election Night.

5. There are no extra ballot papers
it was her spreadsheet "not being saved properly".

Which makes it worse.

8. It's not that...
She uploaded a database/spreadsheet that didn't yet contain the data for the city.

14. No it is something even more fishy.
Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus apologized this evening for human error that she blamed for failing to include the city of Brookfield's vote totals in the tally she reported to the media Election Night.

The mistake and two other changes in the county helped net Justice David Prosser 7,583 votes over JoAnne Kloppenburg and swung the race dramatically in his favor.

Nickolaus said she failed to properly save a spreadsheet after inputting the Brookfield numbers Election Night, leading to the error. Once she ran the report to show the aggregate numbers for the county, she assumed incorrectly the Brookfield numbers were included.

She said the mistake was discovered yesterday during the canvass.

She stressed it was not a case of votes being found.

"I’m thankful that this error was caught early in the process and during the canvass," Nickolaus said. "The purpose of the canvass is to catch these kinds of errors."

The Republicant took her computers off network which raised worries about the efficacy of the vote totals from her error. She was warned about this and lo and behold, this Rethug activist suddenly has issues with the efficacy of her vote totals.

This Republicant is a former staffer for the Assembly Republican Caucus who was granted immunity in the investigation into allegations of illegal campaign activities on state time

What we have here is a vote total for a city that did not get added to the statewide totals.

13. Nate Silver says it looks legit statistically.
And if a city really went completely unreported, with the paper trails it's going to be really easy to verify. Me thinks this race is over, sadly.

16. Huff Post article on the "election surprise"
Edited on Thu Apr-07-11 08:22 PM by catgirl
In a dramatic turn of events on Thursday, the Waukesha County clerk announced that the vote total announced for Tuesday's Wisconsin Supreme Court race had been mistaken -- and that the corrected numbers changed the outcome of the entire election.

There were 3,456 missing votes for Democratic-backed challenger Kathleen Kloppenburg and 11,059 for incumbent GOP-backed Justice David Prosser. Kloppenburg has previously been beating Prosser by just 200 votes of the roughly 1.5 million cast statewide. The new total puts Prosser on a significant path to victory, about 7,500 votes ahead of Kloppenburg.

Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus announced the news in a press conference at 5:30 p.m. local time, sounding nervous and, at times, on the verge of tears. She insisted that there was no foul play in the results and blamed the mess on her own "human error."

Nickolaus cited several reasons for the discrepancies between Tuesday night's unofficial vote totals and the new numbers. In the city of New Berlin, the total for one ward was recorded as 37 votes for Prosser, but it was actually 237, she said. In the town of Lisbon, a "typing error" resulted in both candidates losing votes. The most significant error, however, occurred in the city of Brookfield.

Read about the unbelievable results in Brookfield:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/07/david-prosser-wisconsin-supreme-court_n_846431.html

The AP results kept changing at one point... all the changes seem to have come from Nickolaus. She kept the biggie for last. I find it hard to believe that Prosser got 75% of the vote there.

22. Miracle in Brookfield Wisconsin, 7000 votes miraculously appear for Prosser "mistakenly"
left out of the vote totals because partisan Republicon clerk Nickolaus said she decided to take the election data collection and storage system "off the county's computer network" - and keep it on stand-alone personal computers accessible only in her office - for "security reasons". LOL, when did Koch operatives come up with this and teach her how to do it? This whole vote is tainted and has no integrity. How can anyone trust these vote totals when she took her system off of the county's computer network and kept it on a stand alone personal computers available only in her office and not to auditors and people who could verify the security of the vote. Of course, no partisan, Republicon clerk, in one of the reddest districts would do anything to help Prosser, Scott Walker and their sponsor: Koch to keep this 10 year seat. I can just see Cathy Nickolaus in her brand new Bentley Azure Convertible, as a gift from the Kochs for all the fine work she has done.
Lou

29. ok, now I was going to chalk it to to human error, but how does
this happen to the person that takes their system offline so no one but her can verify the system. then the votes don't turn up until it looks like her man is going to lose.

I thought her demeanor was because she had made a mistake, now I think its because she done something wrong and scared she's going to get caught.

I would not be surprised if the next bit of news we get out of Wisconsin is of someone committing suicide.
