Fox News Poll: More Americans Want a New President Than Want Obama to Stay

Forty-four percent of American voters think President Obama deserves to be re-elected, while slightly more -- 48 percent -- think the country would be better off with someone else, according to a Fox News poll released Thursday.

In December, when the Fox poll last asked that question, 35 percent of voters said he deserved to win re-election, while a 53 percent majority disagreed.

The bump in Obama’s re-elect number comes mainly from Democrats: 78 percent think he deserves re-election now compared to 67 percent who thought so in December. About one in six Democrats (16 percent) think the country would be better off with someone else as president.

Most Republicans (83 percent) and half of independents (51 percent) don’t think Obama deserves re-election.

how come no Republican has moved beyond the "exploratory committee" stage? I would think that there would already be several Republicans eagerly announcing their candidacy to be the one to remove the *Kenyan Socialist* from the WH next year.
Unless some magical GOP candidate emerges that is palatable both to the teabaggers AND to the general electorate, I don't think there's any realistic way they can win. The teabaggers demand purity and anybody who runs is going to have to either be one of them or pander incessantly to them IMHO (i.e. Pawlenty, Romney). I think that a great many Republicans have (privately) written next year off though they will, of course, still have to field a candidate. It just won't be any heavy-hitters IMHO. They will save them for 2016.

And one the poll fails to discuss.

When you ask those people about someone else, they automatically picture their ideal candidate.

It's the same with 'generic Republican'. Generic candidates always do better than real-life candidates because they have no history, no flaws and no divisive opinions.

Obama is a known quantity. 'Someone' else is not.

That someone else might not be Mitt Romney or Donald Trump or Mike Huckabee. When you add them to the equation, the voter then realizes someone else might not be as ideal to Obama when there is a face to the name.

Ask someone if they'd rather eat a hamburger or spinach for dinner and I'm guessing a good number of people will pick the burger.

Now alter the question to change 'hamburger' to 'month old hamburger' and I doubt you'd get the same response.

Why is it so hard for so-called intelligent people to understand we can't go from Bush to pie in the sky!! Why don't they see that a huge number of americans are ignorant, stupid...and just plain crazy and they get a vote too!! Why not appreciate and support our VW before we end up with no wheels at all!

You CANNOT go from a corporate controlled government to universal health care in one term. Sometimes I think the people who expected that are more ignorant than the morans!
