Fox News Poll: More Americans Want a New President Than Want Obama to Stay
or Fox spins its own poll!

Fox News Poll: More Americans Want a New President Than Want Obama to Stay

Forty-four percent of American voters think President Obama deserves to be re-elected, while slightly more -- 48 percent -- think the country would be better off with someone else, according to a Fox News poll released Thursday.

In December, when the Fox poll last asked that question, 35 percent of voters said he deserved to win re-election, while a 53 percent majority disagreed.

The bump in Obama’s re-elect number comes mainly from Democrats: 78 percent think he deserves re-election now compared to 67 percent who thought so in December. About one in six Democrats (16 percent) think the country would be better off with someone else as president.

Most Republicans (83 percent) and half of independents (51 percent) don’t think Obama deserves re-election.

<...>

In addition, while 49 percent of Democrats are looking forward to the 2012 presidential campaign, over half of Republicans (51 percent) and independents (54 percent) are dreading it.

<...>

Oh no, the President's support increased 9 points overall and 11 points among Democrats!!!

1. That might be true, but it's not like any of the potential challengers will win.
One look at the puke line-up and it should be obvious that the 'owners' are extending Obama's contract.

11. Former Gov Huntsman is the only Republican mentioned as possibly running that isn't crazy
IT's a frightening thought.
A Party that once boasted Earl Warren, La Follette, Eisenhower, Dewey, Kassebaum and Teddy Roosevelt has produced this rubbish.

But where's man-in-shape Paul Ryan the Brave hero? You know he's running.

6. If Obama is so "beatable"
how come no Republican has moved beyond the "exploratory committee" stage? I would think that there would already be several Republicans eagerly announcing their candidacy to be the one to remove the *Kenyan Socialist* from the WH next year.
Unless some magical GOP candidate emerges that is palatable both to the teabaggers AND to the general electorate, I don't think there's any realistic way they can win. The teabaggers demand purity and anybody who runs is going to have to either be one of them or pander incessantly to them IMHO (i.e. Pawlenty, Romney). I think that a great many Republicans have (privately) written next year off though they will, of course, still have to field a candidate. It just won't be any heavy-hitters IMHO. They will save them for 2016.

Notice how the somebody else is not defined
Guessing the choices the Republicans offer is probably about 25%

13. It's a good point...
And one the poll fails to discuss.

When you ask those people about someone else, they automatically picture their ideal candidate.

It's the same with 'generic Republican'. Generic candidates always do better than real-life candidates because they have no history, no flaws and no divisive opinions.

Obama is a known quantity. 'Someone' else is not.

That someone else might not be Mitt Romney or Donald Trump or Mike Huckabee. When you add them to the equation, the voter then realizes someone else might not be as ideal to Obama when there is a face to the name.

Ask someone if they'd rather eat a hamburger or spinach for dinner and I'm guessing a good number of people will pick the burger.

Now alter the question to change 'hamburger' to 'month old hamburger' and I doubt you'd get the same response.

14. It's time for liberals/progressives...
...to shit or get off the pot.

The constant complaining is going to land all of us where the people in Wisconsin are now, only worse.

Progressives remind me of 16 year olds who just got their drivers license and decide the best car to have is a brand-new BMW. They don't seem to realize that it would cost as much as their dad makes a year. Guess what progressives....until you can get at least 51% of the american people to agree with you, you are asking for a BMW when all your dad can afford is a used VW!!!

Why is it so hard for so-called intelligent people to understand we can't go from Bush to pie in the sky!! Why don't they see that a huge number of americans are ignorant, stupid...and just plain crazy and they get a vote too!! Why not appreciate and support our VW before we end up with no wheels at all!

You CANNOT go from a corporate controlled government to universal health care in one term. Sometimes I think the people who expected that are more ignorant than the morans!

15. I agree. From ruin to utopia in a few short years is NOT realistic.
It's surprisingly naive, and if voters keep casting aside those who can't deliver utopia, it will backfire.

21. I support Obama generally. But I don't like how he sold out his base on issue after issue.
That's what a lot of progressives are complaining about--the knife in the back.

20. K&R'd. But this is VERY MISLEADING. I want somebody other than Obama too . . .
Like Bernie Sanders or Russ Feingold.

But still I'll vote for Obama over a POS Republican any day of the week, any hour of the day.
