1. The Republicans are actually correct related to this shutdown.
If our congresspeople had passed a budget when they were supposed to, NONE of this would be happening.

2. They couldn't pass it for the same reason it isn't being passed now.
And, for the same reason few things got passed over the past two years PERIOD: REPUBLICAN OBSTRUCTIONISM.

11. The media has actually been doing a fairly good job (so far)
with highlighting the abortion rider issue as being the main hangup and dismissing the Republican spin that it's cuts they're fighting over (basically saying that the gulf is too small to be likely to be problematic). I should also point out that I happened to catch Michele Bachmann on CNN earlier today saying that she was going to vote against the budget because defunding *Obamacare* has apparently been taken off the table!
